Has anyone successfully had their oath ceremony expedited? I Just called and spoke with a tier 2 iso today and asked kindly to have an expedited ceremony. He was polite, asked me what my reason was. I informed him of the fact that I have been unemployed and was recently offered a job, but the position requires that I possess a secret clearance, which I need to be a citizen in order to obtain, I further informed him that I fear the offer being rescinded if I am not able to get back to the employer in a timely fashion.

He placed me on hold and then said he had placed a request in the system for the expedite. Do you guys th ink I have a good chance of the field office granting that request? I really don't want to lose this job offer, but at the moment I am at the mercy of USCIS. I am sick to my stomach.

The Norfolk field office conducts judicial ceremonies once a month and administrative ceremonies twice per month. They also conduct same-day ceremonies for military personnel and spouses. http://www.uscis.gov/about-us/find-uscis-office/field-offices/virginia-norfolk-field-office#Naturalization%20Ceremonies

This doesn't mean that they'll grant your request for an expedited ceremony, but it does mean that you have a better chance than I would in Houston, which only holds one ceremony per month. There are more ceremonies for them to try to fit you into if they decide to be helpful.

Good luck.

I basically just told him the situation. That my reason for calling is to kindly request a expedited oath ceremony. He asked what was my reason for needing one.I told him my wife was deployed all of last year, I had to take that time off from work due to us having a small child, Since she got back I have been job seeking and just got my first offer, however the job requires that i possess a security clearance and I cant obtain one without being a citizen, I told him I am fearful that the offer might be revoked if I cant get back with them in a timely manner. Told me he was gonna put in a request with the field office, and I should get a response from them in a few days. I don't know what to expect though, it was a long shot, but at least I cant beat myself up for not at least trying. I know the next court naturalization in Richmond is next wed.

If the job requires the clearance to start you know that the clearance will take some time to process, especially when it comes evaluating your foreign ties.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Yes that might be so, but they would still go ahead and hire me on, and have that sorted out while I am in training. I just cant be hired on until I become a citizen

If you have a lengthy training then yes. Initial clearing can take months while they check out your close family contacts and unless they also have something uncleared to keep you busy you may get bored.

they said the training was a month long and all I needed to start was to be a citizen. I dont mind being bored, but being unemployed is another thing lol
