I received mine today and I'm not too sure what to bring other than my passport, which has my visa on it. Also I happened to read and it says it's for my I-485 and I-765... what about my I-131? Am I going to have to set up another appointment for that? I sent all those documents together for AOS.

Anyway, another thing I thought of is that I didn't change my last name, so I wonder if I should still bring a copy of my marriage certificate anyway or if, again, my passport will suffice -I have no state ID, drivers licence etc.

Am I going to need my SSN and/ or alien number? Do I just bring my letter + passport?
How long do biometrics normally take?

A bit anxious here, I just wanna do everything right once.

Oh, does my husband have to be there? Will it be ok if a family friend takes me there instead?

You need the letter and a passport. I-131 does not require biometrics. Your husband does not need to come with you. It takes about 10 minutes. They take your fingerprints and a photograph.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

We went through that last week. As someone who generally worries about every little thing, I was surprised at how quick it was. We had the appointment at the Ft. Worth service center. My husband was in and out in about 10 minutes. I waited in the car because I believe they really only want the person requested in there due to limited space.

Ms. Harpa Tismah is always a wealth of information. I"ve followed this site for about a year and just recently joined and want to share any experiences and help I can. Her posts and answers have provided great comfort to me during the entire process. She tells it like it is. Unlike many attorneys who give "wishy-washy" answers.

Thank you for letting me know it's supposed to be quick and painless! I'll make sure to bring the letter and passport and I guess it's gonna take longer to get there and come back. Ah well... as long as everything works out!

Ah yes, Harpa Tismah needs an award.

You might want to bring your marriage certificate as well if there is a discrepancy in your names on your documents. My wife had to resked her biometrics appointment because her passport didn't reflect the name change on the biometrics letter. The clerk told us to come back with the marriage certificate to rectify. Check out reviews for your appointed application support center to make sure.

I chose not to change it so that all my documents would have the same name on them, so hopefully that'll help!
