What does this mean?

The status of my EAD case associating with an AOS from F1 to IR-1/C-1 Spouse Visa was updated as follows:

Card/ Document Production

On July 8, 2014, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

This step applies to applications that result in an applicant receiving a card (such as a "green card") or other document (such as a naturalization certificate, employment authorization document, travel document, or advance parole). Applications will be in this step from the time the order to produce the card/document is given until the card/document is produced and mailed to the applicant. You can expect to receive your card/document within 30 days of the approval of your application.

It doesn't say the word "approved" so it has me confused. The last line also states we can expect to receive the card within 30 days of the approval of the application. Does anyone know if this means this application has been approved?

Follow up question: Once we receive the EAD, does my spouse need to maintain the F1 visa and remain in school while we wait for the spouse visa?

yes you are approved and they are making your card. you should receive within 2 to 3 weeks

To answer your follow up question, I'll get the semantics out of the way first. Your spouse is not adjusting from an F1 visa to a spouse visa, your spouse is adjusting from an F1 visa to US Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card holder). You're not waiting on a spouse visa, you're waiting on a green card.

To answer your question about maintaining the F1, by getting married and applying to adjust status, your spouse entered a new period of authorized stay while the AOS application is pending, the F1 does not need to be maintained.
