Hello,

I have my AED with the AP on it and waiting on my Green Card approval.

I am from China, and I took my husband's last name, I am wanting to go back to China next month.

I am just worrying that the Chinese customs will stop me since my passport has my maiden name and not my new name.

I have heard that some people are saying that the Chinese customs will ask you for your new name on your passport when you are at the airport to check in .

My question is did you just need to take your marriage certificate with you?

Did you have mark your new name on the passport or get a new passport?

If you have done this could you please let me know when and where this happened.

Sorry, I have too many question, I just do not want to get stopped at the airport.

Thank you so much for your help.

It is best to take your Marriage Certificate with you. Your airline tickets will be in your maiden name. Does China really care about your US documents? How will they know you are married unless you show them your Marriage Certificate? You are entering your home country. What are those requirements? (I am asking because I do not know, but I would think that as long as you have a valid Chinese passport you will be allowed to enter China). To re-enter the US you will need to show the AP. First the airline people will need proof that you are allowed entry into the US. This is where the Marriage Certificate might be needed to help them realize you are the same person. When you arrive at your POE in the US you will need the AP and your passport to gain re-entry. I would allow a little more time to clear passport control for this trip as there is a good likelihood that you will be sent to secondary inspection.

Enjoy your trip,

Dave

I guess my fiancee will face the same issue in the future, so I'm curious to know how you are going to resolve this,

but would the simplest thing to do would be to...

get your Chinese passport reissued with your new last name before you travel?

The earlier poster is correct in that airline is your first stop to check this,

so how will you book your flight (with maiden name? or with husband's name?)

Perhaps, airline can also explain what they will accept.

Please post back what you find out.

We are not to worried about her getting home to china, it's the coming back.

The tickets will be in her maiden name since that is what's on the passport.

The problem I see is that when she goes to leave china the passport will have a different name on it the the AP card.

I mean when I come back to usa after I go back china.

There will not a problem when you on the boarding gate, the problem is I am just worrying about the Chinese customs might not know the green card ,because that add my husband's last name.

They might deny me to pass, they might think that is not me.

Thanks for helps guys.

I do not have time to do the mark on my passport, will be a really long trip.

grrrrr....................
