Hi all,

According to I-485, I need to have the birth certificate translated if it is not in English. I just called a local translation center and they would charge $75 per document and another $17 for certificate of accuracy required by USCIS? It doesn't sound right to me. How much do you guys pay for the translation and where? Could you give me a phone number or website?

About vaccination supplement, where do you get the form? I looked on USCIS website and there is no I-639A form. Also, my wife told me that the doctor didn't give her any vaccination paperwork during the K1 medical exam. It was all inside the mysterious brown envelop. So the question is, where did people get their vaccination record from? From their local hospital?

Please help. Thank you.

Sorry, can't help with the translation issue. But with the vacination suppplement that your fiance should have gotten, maybe if you still have the contact information of the doctor that she went to then you can phone them or email them and ask for them to fax/mail the supplement to you that you can take to the panel physician here in America to fill the I-1963A form out with. THis is what I did, but it was from Canada so maybe it was a little easier. I just told them the day and time of my appt. and said what I needed and they faxed it to me.

Good luck.

If at all possible get a hold of the doctor in Brazil and get a copy of the vaccination worksheet.

Take this to a civil surgeon in your area and they will, for a fee, put this on to the I 693a which they have at their offices.

If you are unable to get a hold of any vaccinations records then you might have to have them redone. It does not matter where you get your vaccinations done... some might find somewhere cheaper than a CS as long as you have a record of them being current. Below is the link for civil surgeons in the USA look for one close to your residence.

Thank you all. Could someone answer the translation question? How much do you guys pay?

You can translate it yourself, just write a sentence stating that you are qualified to do the translation. We did this, no problems. It shouldn't be hard to find someone fluent in both languages if you don't want to do it yourself, but there is no "special" certification, just a statement from the person doing the translation.

I wasn't aware that they accepted translations from the involved parties or their family. Maybe the rules have changed. I used the local high school. I called the French instructor and asked if he or a student could do it, and him check it, as extra credit. he loved the idea and had a 2nd year student do the translation. The teacher actually signed off on it, but it gave the student a learning experience.

We were told that we were allowed to translate it ourselves - just had to put a statement saying we were fluent in Spanish and English etc etc. There's a good template in the guides.

Oh, so anyone can translate Birth Certificate and he/she doesn't have to be a "certified" translator? Anyone else?

I-485 states,

"Translation.

Any foreign language document must be accompanied by a full English translation that the translator has certified as complete and correct and by the translator's certification that he or she is competent to translate the foreign language into English."

So it sounds like anyone can translate? and just say he/she is competent to translate to English?

Ok I found it from the guide. Thanks all.

The certification format should include the certifier's name, signature, address, and date of certification. A suggested format is:

Certification by Translator

I typed name , certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled .

Signature

Date Typed Name

Address

My BC was translated by a friend, we also had it notarized. I called a couple of places that do translations in here and the lowest quote i got was $50. With my friend was free and up to today, no RFE (fingers crossed...)
