Schools around the nation will replace hot dogs with "carrot dogs" this fall as the result of Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move campaign.

...

“It will comprise of a full sized carrot placed in a whole grain pita bread, loaded with pickles, onions, and thinly sliced celery," she explained to the audience, "To really make it special, the whole thing is topped off with hummus.”

“It will be healthy with the right amount of calories and nutrition. It’s time out kids start eating right. For a bright future we need a bright meal and the carrot-dog is the answer.”

...

To round out the meal it will also include beet nuggets, date fingers, currant fries, and water mixed with tomato juice. For dessert each child will also be served three MM’s.

“The kids are going to love it,” said the First Lady. “No more pizza, hamburgers, or fries which in my experience, children tend to find are too flavorful anyway.”

Today I had cut up steamed chicken breast and some boiled baby bok choy. The wife always makes both of us lunch out of the night before's dinner. She wanted to add some noodles too it but I opted out. Mostly I think before I didn't want to clean another pot. Anywho, today is pizza day, by which I mean the cafeteria, or dining center as they prefer to be called, serves pizza. One of the guys I work with got a slice and a side of Brussels sprouts. Ranch poured on the pizza and of course a few jalapeno's on the side. I was able to convince him to cut a brussel sprout in half put it on the pizza as a topping. I actually suggested he put a jalapeno under the Brussels sprout but apparently that was too much. So he ate it and said it was actually very good and I got to live vicariously through him. Win/win. :content:

Substitute for normal hainanese chicken:

No skin for me thanks, See the garlic/chive stuff just to the right of the chicken on the plate? Wifey made that too. Its awesomeness.

I'd eat it.

Me too. I would require sauerkraut and mustard.

I don't think I'd eat that skin either, needs to be brown and crunchy for me. The plate doesn't look bad. Is the chicken steamed with just water, or is there some oil/butter and spices involved?

There's rarely any butter in anything asian and never in old recipes. If I would guess, it would say minimal to no seasoning. You use the stuff on the side for flavor. Usually it comes with a few dipping sauces or make your own dipping sauce. The one in the picture has two, one in a ramekin and one on the plate.

I've had a few authentic Asian dishes in my day, all were fairly good that I can remember. Sometimes things don't sound all that appetizing, like steamed chicken, but when you actually see it and taste it, it's prolly all good.

I did a gut wrenching profuse sweating stomach churning 1 hour 10 mins on level 14 of my elliptical. Burned 1000 calories ,Followed by a Zaxbys kickin chicken sandwich, order of fries and a DQ peanut buster and 2 metformins. parfait .

I figure it balances out
