Hi Folks,

I have a general question for those who want to do or did the Adjustment of Status. Is it required to the petitioner comes with the applicant on the day of the interview? In other words, should my mom who is my petitioner comes with me on the day of the interview? Please give some references if available.

Thanks!

DO NOT DO THIS , NEVER, I WARN YOU, As soon as petitioner present in US embassy or out of US , you must provide more evidence for DOMICILE step, then maybe they will not issue visa instantly.

Thanks for your response. You mean the petitioner should not come to the USCIS (because one is doing the AOS he/she is living in US and should go to the USCIS office not US embassy for the interview). Is this correct? Did you do the AOS?

No i mean to the US embassy abroad, she must be in US at time of your interview at US embassy; USCIS office is no problem.

Anybody knows here, how they proceed for Medical after marking "case completed"?

The next letter/email from NVC should have your interview date and instructions for medical. I believe its best to do it at least 3 weeks before your interview date. NVC will tell you where to go to get your medical done.

I don't think its necessary for the petitioner to go with to the interview. You documents and proof of relationship is enough.

Uh, question: my passport and some other stuff were stolen back in 2004, with a J1 and a B1/B2 visa. I had to be reissued a new passport and reapply for my B1/B2 visa. The previous visa I assumed was cancelled when I made the police report. In the section of the immigrant visa application that asks 'Have any of your U.S. visas ever been cancelled or revoked?" I assume I choose 'yes' and then explain? I figured the embassy would have had to cancel that visa once they received the police report about my stolen passport. Trying to cover all my bases.

No need to explain anything since your visa was not cancelled. I figured the embassy would have had to cancel that visa once they received the police report about my stolen passport. No, the US Embassy would not get a copy of your police report. Trying to cover all my bases.

Gah! I know the Jamaican gov't would cancel the passport but the visa number would still be valid until expiration. I figure at least the US Govt can see that I've had three US visas, but only one current. I selected no. Since I genuinely do not know the status of the visa.

thankee.
