Please at what time will someone become a citizen? I have an Interview on 6th December whereas my petitioner will attend for citizenship on 2nd December. But will not attend the swearing-in ceremony until I'm true (secure green card). Do u see it as an issue?

Simple answer to your question is individual becomes USC when they attend the Oath Ceremony and get Naturalization Certificate. Depending upon the district office(where your petitioner attends an interview), oath ceremony can be same day or can be after few weeks.

Hope this helps!

Congrats Puru, Did you had to apply here for SSN? When did you get SS card?

Following is the post I posted on 1st Oct 2015 about SSN and after a week I received mine:

No Puru, all that has changed, coz I remember we received both GC n SSN in less than a month. SSN officials do not entertain you unless you have your GC. They will just check the system and let you know if there is any update, thats it. They are very curt.

Take your written test and drive test, but they will give you permanent license card only after they see your SSN. Till then you will be given temporary paper license, for up to 3 months.

My son passed his driving test in about two weeks, as he went round with his dad and brother as soon as he was here. So test for temporary license in the first week and the following week he got his license. Do those DMV quizzes online it helps a lot. All the best Kiddo!

And take it easy, enjoy with your family, yeah I know here people are so busy, no time for anyone, :)

Hey Chubbs!!

Yesterday I went to SSA office in Mountain View and filled up the form to apply for SSN as they told me to do so. I carried my passport and the lady told me to fill the form and submit it. She gave me back the receipt and told me that I will receive my SSN card in next 2 weeks. Whereas, there's no update about the greencard so far, though I have read many posts on internet and the USCIS website itself suggests to call National Customer number if the greencard and the welcome letter doesnt delivered within a month. I will wait till 07th October and will call this number to remind them to work on it if I wont receive it within the stipulated time frame.

By the way, its raining from last 2 days and quite chilly weather out here whereas it was very hot a few days back. I never experienced this kinda strange situation before, how the weather in valley so far?? I heard that its quite warm from Stockton to Fresno to Bakersfield, is it??

I am on a F2B category. I would like to have one of my daughter to travel with me. When my father filed the application for me, my daughter was under 17 years old. But, now my visa becomes available, the NVC told me she is aged-out and not qualified under CSPA. The NVC told me I could still bring her paper work at the Embassy at the interview and the Consulate Officer is the one that could make a decision for her. My question, has anyone of you heard of any case like this in which the Officer granted a visa for a child that was not qualified for CSPA? How often that happen?

Never heared. If age is above 21 then you have to reapply for her. If case completed and with few days difference is interview then they consider it and issue visa ( My sister got like this), but before completion of case if turned 21, then not possible as per my knowledge.

This was my case as well: my brother and I aged out from CSPA (I was 27 when his PD became current). He didn't ask the consular officer, and only filed I-130 for us after a year after he had migrated. I guess it depends on how old your daughter is and again, only at the discretion of the consular officer.

If CSPA can not help a child, then the child can not receive a visa. The consular officer does not have the discretion to ignore the law and issue a visa.
