I called NVC and they told me my case is completed I don't know when but my interview was not scheduled so they could not tell me interview date. They gave me 45 days which I think passed away.

Do you think they can take 60 in spite of 45 days.

The lady talking to me was so friendly but I was put on hold for

one and hour and first two hours I found no one free.

They remind me every 20 seconds they will appreciate my patience when I was on hold.

Anyway do you guys think I can receive Il in nearby days as it took about one month to reach letter from nvc to my mail box.

Hey puru,

How long did it take you to get PCC in India?

Do they just give you PCC or stamp your passport for PCC as well?(I read somewhere online that PSK will hand over the PCC and stamp the passport).

They issued me 2 copies of PCC and stamped my passport too. It all happened in just one visit and hardly takes half an hour.

Great, thanks puru. I meant how long it took to get PCC from the day you have your biometrics done at PSK and finally you got it.

As I said above, only 1 visit required for whole procedure. Thats it!!

In just one appointment, they follow multi level process in Passport Seva Kendra (PSK). At first station, they take the fingerprints and a photograph. Then, at second station they check all the required forms and all issued passports and at final station, officer issues this PCC and stamp the passport and sign it.

All this can be done within half an hour or so, depends upon the rush at PSK.

Long way to go. It happened with me too when I saw that Post Decision Activity stage on USCIS website in early 2010. I thought, I will get the visa very soon. But, the Post Decision Activity means that ur I-130 petition is approved at USCIS and that "Activity" word actually means that the petition will be sent for further processing at National Visa Center (NVC).

Welcome to NVC, now your NVC case number will be issued by NVC & they will contact you in this regard. Your case will be remain at NVC until your PD becomes current in Visa Bulletin. Till then you need to wait patiently and follow the Visa Bulletin. Don't get confused with the USCIS receipt number, which you already have. There's another number required for whole Visa Application process and i.e. NVC case Number which will be ur identity till the time you receive ur greencard.

Current date for F2B is 22nd Dec 08, whereas your pd is 12 July 11. It will take 2 years and 7 months if VB dates move a month every month, or may be lesser time if the dates will move faster in future or may be longer time if the dates move slow. Therefore, the bottom line is that "Nobody" can tell you exact time but there's approx. 7 years waiting time in total including the whole procedure right from the beginning from the USCIS to NVC to the Embassy' interview under this F2B category.

Best of Luck!! I hope you understand the situation now and the way it goes ahead.

Purru,

Counting every day to get interview call for my daughter and praying her priority date is current next month.

Generally, NVC starts sending interview letters after 26 or 27th of every month.

There are more 5-6 days to go, you may receive it by the end of next week.

Best of Luck!!

Thanks puru, I don't know when your passport was issued, but this page says, if your passport was issued before 6 months ago then interview date, then you need PCC from SP office as well. Is that true, any thoughts?

I dont trust this link which you have provided. Because none of us here obtained a PCC from the local police station. In fact, NVC did clear my case and never sent a checklist for PCC from local police station. It was an old rule when they asked for 2 PCCs, one from Passport authority and other one is from local police station. My family obtained these 2 certificates in 2007 when they were gathering documents for their F4 case.

Anyways, refer this link: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country/IN.html

I would rather trust this NVC link than any random website suggestion at this stage of time. I have already interact with many applicants from past few months and their visas were successfully approved without asking this PCC from Local Police Station.

By the way, above given link clearly mentioned the following details about the PCC:

Police Records

Indian Police Clearance Certificates should be obtained as follows:

  • All Indian nationals aged 16 and above, residing in India, should obtain police clearance certificates from the Regional Passport Office. (Applicable in my case or mostly others)
  • Indian passport holders residing outside India should obtain a statement from their local Indian Embassy, Consulate, High Commission, or Deputy High Commission confirming they have no criminal record.
  • Non-Indian applicants residing in India who are registered with the Foreigner Regional Registration Office (FRRO) should obtain police certificates from the FRRO serving their area of residence.
  • Non-Indian applicants residing in India who are not registered with the FRRO, such as foreigners holding Overseas Citizen of India status, should obtain police clearance certificates from the District Police Station serving their area of residence.
  • Indian police certificates are not available for foreign (non-Indian) applicants residing outside India.

Thank you chubbs for ur wishes!!

Its really great to know that ur son has settled well there. :)

No, I havnt booked the tickets yet bcoz Im not sure whether I will receive a passport by 4th Sept. Actually, my mother is here with me and she has a return on 6th late night and she wants me to join her this time and this will be very disheartening for her to go alone this time when she came here totally prepared to bring me back with her. :(

I called the airlines & they will charge $500 for postponing the flight, that makes around 32,000 bucks here. I have read some posts online that usually the passport is available for pick up within 2 days after the interview but still there is no guarantee on that. So, I will wait till 4th sept and hope to get it by then for her sake.

Anyways, the situation is little bit tensed these days. Finally THAT day has arrived and I am biting the nails and cant sleep properly. All this questions and preparations and worries goes through my mind .... lolzzz

Though, I always thought and believed that I am totally prepared and confident about all this process but right now, every moment and this countdown makes me little nervous. No matter how hard you prepared but one has to be afraid of it for this last stage where it all ends up after years of waiting time. Isnt it??

Its totally on my nerves and makes me anxious, praying the god wasnt so desperate & begging before .... lolzzz

Congrats once again and my best wishes for ur family. Now, the time has come to start ur second petition soon under F2A, Best of Luck!! :joy::joy:
