And I have told you that we both must be the first one in this world besides the filipinos who obtained this piece of document from DHS/USCIS.

I am happy that our efforts really worked out in no time, whereas we both were tensed and in panic about this notice a week ago when we both interact with each other on phone.

Finally, back on track!!

Thanks puru for detailed response. In what order it should be sent? The barcoded checklist NVC sent is kind of confusing.

On a side note - does USCIS approval notice(NOA2) ever needed?

Go by the checklist they provided you. And keep a couple of copies for yourself.

The main documents are what the NVC asks for. I dont think the NOA2 is important once you receive the case number and invoice ID.

You indicated that your son dropped I-864A next day, do they allow visiting consulate again without appointment or did he drop at one of the drop off location?

Can you describe the exact medical exam process, I hear that doctors in India sometimes asks you to go through tests that may not be required and/or needed.

Puru- have you done your medical exam? How is it like in Delhi?

Generally, they accept the missing document at VAC therefore no need to take appointment at Embassy/Consulate.

Yes, I am done with medical. In Delhi, a person must visit the Max Med Centre at Panchsheel Park. Its a good hospital but make sure to be there at least 20 minutes before the scheduled appointment at Immigration Department in basement because this hospital accommodates the cases of US, UK, Canada, Australia & NZ. This Immigration department always flooded with other countries people especially in these months when the fall session going to start in various universities overseas.

For US, they follow this simple procedure:

First they collect the blood sample

then, take a chest X-ray

then, applicant must meet the physician for general check-up

& if required, then some vaccination shots. (They gave me 3 shots, I was scared of being injected so I asked the nurse that I dont have any such condition then why doctor referred me for these shots and she said its a normal procedure for US Immigrant case)

Usually, report is available after a week and the person has to pick the report by himself, unlike canada or other countries hospital do not send the medical reports to Embassy directly.

I am eagerly waiting to hear from you when ur son arrives. Please do share with us his POE experience as well like you always did perfectly in previous events :)

By the way, this POE reminds me about one question which comes to my mind right now.

Have you guys paid the Greencard Fees $165 at USCIS Elis website (http://www.uscis.gov/online-filing)

If yes, then please tell me that have they mentioned these numbers on your son's visa:

A-number & DOS number

These numbers are required to pay the fees. I have registered myself on their website but when I tried to proceed they have asked me to fill these two numbers.

Thanks puru, in that case I think they don't do skin test for TB, but just do blood test to see if you have TB or no. Did you get copy of the report(not sealed) as well, or just got the sealed medical report?

In your timeline - April 23, 2015 - Case Complete - Did you receive any notification from NVC that it was complete. The reason I am asking is how one would know, they don't need any more info and case is complete.

I don't know anything about this skin test for TB but I think blood is sufficient to diagnose any test. I havnt received my reports yet, they will let me know whenever its prepared.

No unlike chubbs, hamida and other people on this forum, I was worried that why didnt they sent me a notification for my case completion.

I never received an e-mail in this regard but meanwhile I used to contact NVC via phone to confirm the status of my case and everytime operator said that my case is completed and waiting to get scheduled for interview. As per my experience and understanding, its irrelevant to receive the case completion notification e-mail whether you receive it or not doesnt matter. You can always check with the NVC over the phone call.

Purru,

For one of my nephew case whose mother has become citizen but case was never upgraded to F1 she sent a request to NVC to retail the old visa category of F2B and she received following email few months ago. Does she still need another letter.

We received notification indicating that the principal applicant's request to opt-out of conversion to the F1 (unmarried son or daughter over 21 years of age of a U.S. Citizen) preference category has been approved by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This petition will now process under the F2B (unmarried son or daughter over 21 years of age of a Legal Permanent Resident) preference category.

National Visa Center

This is the case where they have already started processing and priority date is March 4, 2009

Its an unusual response from NVC, we never got this language typed in the letter when they sent the notification to my father. If they have mentioned exactly this then I dont think she need to contact DHS now.

"We received notification indicating that the principal applicant's request to opt-out of conversion to the F1 (unmarried son or daughter over 21 years of age of a U.S. Citizen) preference category has been approved by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Anyways, she should bring this letter at the Interview to avoid any problem in this matter.

No. Its not required in India.

Philippines applicants show this CENOMAR (Certificate of No Marriage) to the consular officer.

May be its known as Impediment Certificate in Caribbean Countries and mandatory there. Whereas, filipinos says this CENOMAR in their country but its not mandatory for Indian beneficiaries.

By the way, have you converted back to F2B or still processing under F1?? I have seen that applicants with Nov 08 date gt welcome letters recently under F1.

Hi puru.

Thanks to reply. I'm still in F1. nothing yet.

Purru,

It is email received from NVC. It is proper email response which was also verified on the phone. My nephew case was never upgraded to F1. It was still in F2B when Email was sent.

For safety I can ask my sister to get a letter also. Just send me the steps for this request.

Hey friends!

My son landed at SFO 7.26 am and surprise! surprise! There was absolutely nothing he had to do, but just walk out of the airport towards 'Baggage Claim". The immigration formalities were over at AbuDhabi ( he took an Etihad flight via Abu Dhabi) and there too it was a breeze.... they did not ask him any questions except the routine stuff.

As for the $165 fees for Green card, you will only get the A-number and the DOS number on your stamped passport. Also they issue a letter stating how you have to pay the fee before flying out to the US. Paying the fees at USCIS ELIS is a simple process and once that is done you receive an email. Thats it!
