Dear KUSPAT9,

Please be so kind as to confirm that your brother's priority date is in fact February 19, 2010 and that your brother's category is in fact F2B.

There are thousands of people in F2B category with 2009 priority dates who have not received any communication from NVC. So reading your post might affect their emotional state :joy:

Thank you so much!

Limenita22

Dear Limenita,

Alshah from pakistan with the pd of June 2009 sent me a message and wrote that he called NVC and was told that he would get the NVC welcome letter in 28 days.

Best regards,

Should I go ahead and chose the choice of agent and pay the fee even though I haven't received the letter yet. However, I have been provided with the invoice number and case number through the phone!

Also, can someone tell me what are the steps of pre processing? Sorry if it's repetitive.

My daughter's priority date January 04, 2015.

Today AOS Document went from paid to N/A

I also received the confirmation from NVC regarding this that they will inform us as soon as interview has been scheduled.

My expectations

We should receive the interview date for October 2015 and should receive the letter by September 2015 after October visa bulletin has been published saying Priority date will be current in October 2015.

Please pray that September 2015 visa bulletin moves by 4 weeks and October 2015 moves by atleast 3 weeks so that her priority date is current for the month of October 2015 in September 2015 bulletin.

Hamida, your daughter is in F2b category? How is it her PD is 2015 and expecting an interview already?

One document, the I-864A was needed to be provided by my husband. We were unaware about it and the NVC never mentioned any such thing nor was it included in the list of documents to be submitted during the interview. Only after my son submitted his papers did the lady ask him about the I-864A. So now we have sent it and he will submit it. They returned his passport, but he finished taking the oath. He will submit the I-864A and his passport. I dont know how long it will take after that. Im so frustrated.

oh oh.

Don't worry, its just a formality as they have to follow the procedure and its a part of the routine. Everything will be fine and he gt the visa once he submitted the Affidavit of Support.

But, why didn't you send the signed copy of AOS to your son before?? It is always mandatory to carry both original bundles (Civil & Financial) documents.

Hey Puru,

Thanks for the encouragement. Actually, he had all documents but this was the I-864A, which was what my husband had to sign as household member. I was not aware, as I thought my I-864 was enough and the income was well above the poverty limit. So I just cannot figure out what went wrong. The NVC never asked for the I-864A nor was it mentioned anywhere else. Anyways, he will submit along with PP hope they finish it in a couple of days and not months... Thats my only fear.

His interview went very well and the staff was very cordial and pleasant natured. First, one lady checked and took some of the documents, and asked him to sign an oath which stated that he was unmarried and will remain so until he received his GC. She asked for the I-864A; my son told her that we did not know they needed it as it was never mentioned by the NVC nor was it in the Packet 4 list of docs required during interview. She forwarded the docs to the immigration officer.

The immigration officer asked him where his parents were in the US, what parents were doing in the US, why he wasn't married yet, whether he been in Mumbai for very long. The officer who looked Asian (Chinese) then said "Oh so you are a "Mumbaikar". He also asked if my son had any relatives waiting outside with any more documents, so he could just fetch the I-864A. But unfortunately there wasn't. He was given the 221(g) and was told to submit the I-864A at the earliest along with his PP at the dropbox. My son then took the oath and that was it.

Oh, that was an easy one. Nice to know that they cooperate during the interview and makes an applicant comfortable all the way :)

Dear Chubbs,

Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to explain in such detail your son's interview experience. I appreciate it a lot and will save it for future reference. I am 100% positive that it will be a matter of around 5 business days, maybe a little bit more, maybe a little bit less, for your son to have his passport and visa on hand! Like Puru444 said, it's just part of the routine and procedure. Please keep positive as it won't take months.

And just to remind anyone who reads this post, per NVC guidelines, the I-864A form is always mandatory whenever your sponsor, the one filling out the I-864 form, is married. No exceptions.

Hey guys,

Anyone has any experience with opt-out from F1 to F2B ? My son's interview is this Friday under F2B category. However I have naturalized. We never converted the case to F1 as the dates for F2b were moving faster and we read about this law.

We have contacted so many agencies about this opt-out but never received any official documentation:

- NVC

- USCIS in US

- In-person meeting at USCIS in US

- In-person meeting at USCIS office in Delhi

- Bombay Consulate where the interview is scheduled.

So just to be clear we never notified NVC to change the category to F1. So the case is being processed as F2B all along, but we are afraid if they ask for any official approval letter for this opt-out.

we are very nervous on what will happen during interview time. Any feedback / suggestions really appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi Chubbs,

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience here. My son's interview is scheduled for this Friday. Are you a citizen ? If yes, did you have to deal with the opt-out provision of Section 6 under CSPA ?

We are in that boat and extremely tensed as no one knows about it and the procedure for this. We know as a fact its a law but just dont have clear information on how to get the approval. Anyways, guess we will have to find out on Friday.

But will appreciate your response in case you had to deal wtih it.

Thanks again!

whats his Priority Date?

If the case is completed, which already has then don't worry about any opt-out notice or any formal letter notifying in this manner.

They won't ask ur son about any document for Opt-out.
