Thank you so much chubbs

You think they will check about my mother problem in interview or not?

I mean the consular officer will check about abandoned petitoner ( my mother ) green card?

Hope not Nikooo, I really do not know about this. But thinking of it, if they wanted to deny your sis the visa, they should've done it much earlier before the pre-processing of documents. Doesn't make sense going thru all that and then saying that the petitioner has abandoned her GC

My Nephew with Priority date of March 5, 2009 (F2B) received welcome letter today

I'm curious about this.. if your nephew is F2B, priority date March 2009 and the visa bulletin says they're currently processing cases before September 2008, how is it he's already gotten his welcome package? I'm confused :/

Am I misunderstanding something?

Phoenyxx, thats the preprocessing in preparation for the PD becoming current over the coming months. Though they receive the Welcome package and the process begins, the DS-260 can be done only towards the ** end.

Ah, gotcha. So, they basically start sending those out say 6 months before PD becomes current.

Another question: I've been hearing negative things about changing from CP to AOS. I'm considering that option as a last resort in order to go take care of my father, hopefully it doesn't get to that. Is it possible?

Re my original question: I guess they start sending out welcome letters about 6 months before the PD is current.

I was just curious as to how adjustment of status would work (or if it were at all possible) if I went to the US before or whenever I got my welcome letter.

That is, to change from consular processing to adjustment of status.
