Hello Ranis ,

i do not meant to demoralise you , but i have seen cases where NVC/Embassy authorities do call the relatives/neighbours of the beneficiary , in order to verify the singularity/other details they feel doubtful

now as your friend is as good as married in front of society , there would be a big problem if there is a cross-check.

as far as i know , they either call your neighbours or relatives and in the worst case they do inquire personally .

hopefully that does not happen in your friends case and there is no , i repeat no way to avoid the cross checking

he has to convince everyone that he is single and never married or hope that they inquire someone who knows the truth

Dear Fellows

I had my interview on 11th May 2015 Islamabad Embassy Pakistan, the Counselor said, " you have successfully proved your relationship with your mother, your case is absolutely normal and in order, but we have one issue, you need to submit joint sponsor"

i was literally disappointed, tried to prove my point but he kept on saying you have to submit this document.

he handed me a white page (photocopy) and marked the joint sponsor required. Then i asked him what about my Passport, He said we will keep your passport, i asked how much time will it take to issue me visa, he replied, its up to you how quickly you submit joint sponsor document to me.

i just want to inquire about couple of things.

1. How much time will it take now to issue me a visa ?

2. is it a normal procedure ?

3. Should i go by my self and submit the required document in person

PS: my major concern how much further time will it take

God Bless You all

Nobody is going to call the neighbors or your nosy relatives. The US embassy is very much aware of "live-in" relationships and they don't fuss about it. My husband was previously F2B also and we lived together for years before he got his embassy interview and we had 3 kids and it wasn't an issue. All 4 of them immigrated via F2B visa.

well , i am sure what you say is true , but US embassy in India have been quite alert , esp if the beneficiary is unmarried .

i am not saying that they do background checks on all , but they do when ever they find anything fishy ( no one knows what will they find fishy)

yes they would agree on live in relationship , but not if most of the persons they inquire respond on beneficiary being married .

Also , in India , there is no Certificate of Singularity , but quite a lot depends on luck.

Hello Arcane ,

the request of a joint sponsor is actually quite normal , esp , when the number of beneficiaries are more ( as the petitioner/primary sponsor has to provide enough income to support their family + beneficiaries)

the same thing happened to us , when we went for our family visa(F4) in 2009

all you need to do is find a joint sponsor ASAP ( you might have probably found at this time)

Now , what we did was just send our joint sponsor document along with the letter given after interview.

i dont know know whether there are any drop-off locations for US embassy in Pak , but we sent is that way and actually none of my family members visited the embassy after the first interview ; they sent our passports with visa via mail

you should inquire and act accordingly and usually it does not take long for them to issue you the visa as you already have all other things cleared

Good luck

Hi Kuspat,

This is really very alarming. Can you please advise what could be the possible outcomes in case beneficiary fails to convince NVC? I have heard they will put permanent ban on the beneficiary, is that true? Could it be worse than this i.e. any criminal action or prosecution etc. Trying to understand everything before we start the process.

Hello ,

i am not sure of the consequences that can occur , but any prosecution would be extremely rare.

i have not heard/read of cases where the beneficiary is found guilty of providing wrong info , so i would not comment on it.

i dont know whether its possible or not , but can your friend get an affidavit done that he is single and no marriage under his name has been registered in Indian civil court( its Just a wild Guess).

Ok Kuspat. I will try to explore that option too.

I searched through various websites and everwhere it says in case false info. is presented, permanent ban can be imposed.

Also, you said that NVC can call neighbours/relatives to do background check, my question is How will NVC get to know about neighbors/relatives info. i mean their phones numbers/address?

Do you mean to say that NVC can call the references which will be provided in Police Clearance Certificate?

Proof of residence or any other property, bank accounts, building up credit, tax receipts, any jobs undertaken or business you may have started here are things that indicate intent to remain in the US. Immigrants who are here will look to rent an apartment, so that wilt be a solid enough reason.

Hi Chubbs,

Thanks for providing this info.

Can you also pls. advise when to send all these proofs, I mean should we send them along with AOS package which I am about to send in couple of weeks or should beneficiary bring them at the time of interview?

Thanks

Ranis,

SEND ONLY WHAT THEY ASK FOR and send only copies, except for the photographs. Tax receipts, bank account statements, balance sheet if you have a biz, W-2 are some docs you will need.

There is a separate list of documents the applicant needs to take like original police verification certificate, copy of IV form and so on, that you will know about later.

http://www.uscis.gov/green-card/green-card-processes-and-procedures/affidavit-support. if there is a joint sponsor, the procedures is slightly different. Find that in the link.

You will receive a welcome letter like this, where they will let you know about the steps to follow.

Go to our website http://nvc.state.govand complete the six steps below to begin NVC processing.

Step 1. Choose an agent

Step 2. Pay fees

Step 3. Submit visa application form

Step 4. Collect financial documents

Step 5. Collect supporting documents

Step 6. Submit documents to the NVC

After you complete the steps above, we will review the forms and documents you submit to us. If something is

missing or incorrect, we will tell you how to fix it. Otherwise, we will schedule your relative's case for a visa

interview at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in MUMBAI (BOMBAY), INDIA.

Sincerely,

THIS IS THE DOCUMENT LIST YOU WILL FIND IN THE WELCOME LETTER

When you send your documents to us, place them in the order shown below. Mark the checkbox [ X ] under

Enclosed if you are sending the document to us. Mark the checkbox [ X ] under Unavailable if you cannot

obtain the document. Mark the checkbox [ X ] under Not Applicable if the document is not applicable or not

needed for your case.

Order Document Enclosed Unavailable Not Applicable

chubbs,

Any update on your interview call

Nothing yet, Hamida, but I have read that they send out interview letters around the 26th of the month, so Im hoping to get a date scheduled for June. Keeping my fingers crossed, everyone in the family is tense and waiting with bated breath. :)
