I observe that some people under f2b category were asked to go for DNA test and this takes a long time. Please, what condition will make the embassy or NVC to request for the test.

It's not necessarily a request, but it does actually help to bolster the application, especially for RFE's if it's on the father's side.

I had to do mine, got the RFE in May last year, sent back documents and did the test, USCIS received everything by July 25 and by August 18 my case was approved. DNA usually takes 2-3 weeks and your RFE package contains the directions for you to find a USCIS-approved DNA centre who'll walk you through the process.

Yeah Phoenyx, it is amazing especially since F2B has always moved forward by a minimum of 4 weeks every VB, for the past couple of years, many a time the leap has been even upto 2 and 3 months. The last time 0 movement was way back in 2012.

Yea - and to think, I've following this so diligently. I remember the jump for like 3 months, I was ecstatic!

I was originally a part of a beneficiary petition from 2009 (aged out) but my father didn't mention my brother and I (who were outside the embassy with all docs could possibly need. We were told that if he had requested we be considered after his IV was approved, we could have been scheduled for medical/interview)) So I've basically been waiting from 1997, lol!

Btw, congrats with your case being completed :)

Thanks Phoenyxx! :) Same for my son too. He has been waiting from 1996, and it continues..... until he get his interview letter:

My Nephew with Priority date of March 5, 2009 (F2B) received welcome letter today

They certainly are organizing and streamlining the immigration process... Good Luck Hamida!

Dear Fellows

I had my interview on 11th May 2015 Islamabad Embassy Pakistan, the Counselor said, " you have successfully proved your relationship with your mother, your case is absolutely normal and in order, but we have one issue, you need to submit joint sponsor"

i was literally disappointed, tried to prove my point but he kept on saying you have to submit this document.

he handed me a white page (photocopy) and marked the joint sponsor required. Then i asked him what about my Passport, He said we will keep your passport, i asked how much time will it take to issue me visa, he replied, its up to you how quickly you submit joint sponsor document to me.

i just want to inquire about couple of things.

1. How much time will it take now to issue me a visa ?

2. is it a normal procedure ?

3. Should i go by my self and submit the required document in person

PS: my major concern how much further time will it take

God Bless You all

Hi Arcane,

NVC usually checks all financial documents and only then the case is completed so this is additional administrative processing. So if they needed you to have a joint sponsor, it should've been done earlier. However, it would be wise to add a joint sponsor and submit their financial documents at the embassy ASAP. And since you are cleared for visa, I think they might finish the process in just a couple of days or weeks.

Hello Everyone,

I am a joint sponsor and about to send AOS package to NVC for my brother's case. My only concern is Petitioner's domicile status. We have provided U.S address in all documents and listed USA as domicile country however, petitioner only visits US once a year for couple of months (less than 6). We listed US address because Petitioner will intend to live there with beneficiary once visa is granted and they migrate to US.

So, should we provide lease/rental agreement along with AOS package that will prove their domicile or should we just wait for NVC and provide lease document only if they ask for it (might ask during interview)?

Please suggest what do you guys think, do we have to prove domicile in our case? If yes, then when should we submit all the necessary documents, along with AOS package or only if NVC asks for it?

Please help!

Thanks

The petitioner should indicate intent to settle down in the US, that is definitely required. However, they can be away for whatever reasons ( please do not mention that your mom was away to be with your brother, that is not acceptable, she was away to wind up, sell property or something like that ) Don't send anything unless NVC asks for it, you would be unnecessarily raking up an issue. Ensure that the petitioner is in the US for 6-8 months before the applicant's interview, so the applicant will not have to face uncomfortable questions during interview.

Thanks Chubbs for the reply.

But when you say "The petitioner should indicate intent to settle down in the US, that is definitely required", what exactly you mean by that? How can we indicate intent to settle down in the US (I am thinking to provide only lease agreement at the time of interview)? Please advise if that is correct or if you have any other ideas in mind?

Do we have to prove our intent at the time of submitting documents (AOS) to NVC?

Proof of residence or any other property, bank accounts, building up credit, tax receipts, any jobs undertaken or business you may have started here are things that indicate intent to remain in the US. Immigrants who are here will look to rent an apartment, so that wilt be a solid enough reason.

How long have your mom been doing this "visits" to the US? Sounds to me like she already abandoned her LPR status.

Hi All,

I have a question regarding my friend's case. He is currently under F2B petiton (Unmarried child above 21 yrs, his mother is permanent resident is the petitioner).

My friend is Unmarried, however he is in a Live in relationship. But in a country like India where Live In concept is not that common, everyone belives that my friend is married which is not the case.

So my question is : Will it affect my friend's case as he is not married but if consulate in India or
NVC
performs background check and ask people there (neighbours etc.), they are going to say he is married.

pls. advise if anyone knows, how the background process (specifically in case of marital status) is done by consulate in India?

Puru444- Do you know anything about background check process in India?

Thanks in advance.
