"...whose path to salvation is personal responsibility."

Fixed it for you.

What an asinine comment.

Do you believe that employers should not offer holiday leave? Because the employee should just have the personal responsibility to not take vacation?

Or maybe everyone in the US should be a small business owner and do what they want?

I think he means you should pay for your own time off.

Reported. (y'all seem to respect that, so, when in Rome...)

Or maybe even save until something desired can be afforded. I know: awfully old-fashioned. Why should we do it if our elected 'betters' won't?

What? You think that people who go on vacations can't afford them?

And reported me for what? Saying your comment is foolish?

If you can't go on vacation without getting paid during your time off, then yes - you can't afford the vacation.

Of course, paid time off is part of the employer-employee agreement at the time of hire but let's ignore that for now. Let's pretend employers are being coerced by big government, that makes for a much better story.

So this is a vote for unlimited unpaid vacation? I could go for that.

Exactly. Our conservative friends are apparently unfamiliar with how compensation actually works.

I'm guessing our conservative friends who object to this have never been valuable enough to actually have a job where they got paid time off.
