What does Vietnam have to do with co-sponsor? Your brother or sister can sponsor you. They will fill out an i-864 form just like you.

He's phrasing it a bit poorly - it's not Vietnam, but the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam that will not accept co-sponsors on a K1 visa (if that is still in place). There are a few places like that, for whatever reason.

04/14/12 - First date in the U.S.

02/26/13 - Married

06/3/13 - Petition Filed (had been unsuccessfully trying to move to Europe)

06/6/13 - NOA1 (National Benefits Center)

12/19/13 - Transferred to Nebraska Service Center

03/3/14 - I130 Approved

03/18/14 - NVC Received file from USCIS

04/28/14 - Received/Paid AOS Bill

05/01/14 - Received/Paid IV Bill

05/14/14 - Sent AOS Package

05/30/14 - Sent IV Package

06/05/14 - Submitted DS-260

06/19/14 - Received checklist for AOS, resubmitted required corrections

08/09/14 - Case completed at NVC

08/14/14 - Received Interview Date

09/08/14 - Interview date - Approved!

09/11/14 - Raced into town, threw car into a parking spot, and ran down city streets to get to the courier company 2 minutes before the close to get passport back

10/10/14 - POE Entry

A grown up and responsible man should NEVER allow anyone else "sponsor" or co-sponsor his lover. If you're not financially ready to get your own love nest, then you're NOT ready for love.

And if she can't wait til you're ready, financially and emotionally, for your marriage, then she problably isn't in the game for love either. If she REALLY WANTS sex that badly, there's rule or law preventing her from "an com truoc keng" (having premarital sex). Vietnamese girls nowadays don''t exactly care about what's morally right and wrong anymore.

I am actually financially ready to sponsor her. The problem is that I was still in school until February, then visited her until early June. From then until the end of the year, I will not be able to claim enough on taxes. I also have a decent amount (x>20% of a house in good neighborhood in my city) saved up for a house (I was working throughout all of college part time, commuted 75 miles to go to school in a gas saving pos honda, and barely partied) when she comes here and we go house shopping together; the "love nest" is not something I want to go out and decide upon on my own, since we BOTH will be living there.

She is willing to wait and she says she fully support me in whatever I decide (caveat, I have to visit her on valentines). We are already committed to eachother (our families met, followed traditions, ect) so im sure we're ready for "the game for love." Who in the hell said anything about sex? And she cares a hell of a lot on whats morally right and wrong so generalizing "Vietnamese girls" is pretty ignorant.

To everyone else, my friend is going to introduce me to a startup he has been working for. Our meeting is taking place at 330 today, im pretty excited. Im hoping to land a freelancing gig with them, and depending on what kind of technologies they use and our negotiation, i may have enough by december.

Edit: and even if I have more than enough to sponsor my fiance, I will still have my brother and sister be joint sponsors. Its stupid to not take an extra precaution.

Thanks. Glad to know he has a history of trolling people.

As an update to everyone else: The meeting with the startup went really well and theyre going to hire me for the project. Looks like i'll have an extra 7200 to report to my taxes this year so i'll definitely meet the income requirement. :D

congrats.

a couple of questions/comments

1) poverty level & salary = isn't that calculated on an annual total amount, so you should have employment letter stating your annual salary + other documents of your finance

2) understand the IRX tax return amount due to recent grad & new job, but you can explain that in your letter + your other jobs, ect...

3) so if you get married & get a marriage certificate in Vietnam, would you need to change to I-130 application? since you are now sponsoring your wife.... my friend, an immigration lawyer advised me to stick with my original plan I-129f (K1 VISA) and not get marry in Vietnam since this would create a change in marital status. just a thought.

best.

Thanks!

1) Ive heard it go both ways and that its really up to the CO. Also, I wanted to play it somewhat safe and make atleast 125% of the poverty level instead of the required 100% since Ive heard they can use either or. I will definitely include a copy of my employment offer letter though; more evidence won't hurt.

2) I intend to explain everything as to why my income was barely sufficient and how it is expected to go up, in the letter. I also intend to bring plenty of pay stubs to prove that I will indeed make quite a bit more than 125% at 2015's year end.

3) Yeah, if I were to get the marriage cert. in vietNam and become legally married there, then the whole 129f petition would be void, meaning the whole wait time would be for nothing. Thus, I intend to follow through with the 129f.

Thanks for your advice! Heres to hoping the best for all of us. Cheers!

If you want to file I-129F ( K-1 visa), then please dont get marriage certificate in Vietnam. If the consulate knows that you get married in Vietnam, then they will deny your petition and recommend to file I-130. However, if they wont figure that you already married, then you still create a big mess at AOS stage when she arrives to US.

The consulate does mention that they will decide whether accepting co-sponsor for K-1 at interview day in Vietnam. I had heard they accepted few cases recently.

Good Luck.
