... the White House told Congress last week that it would seek "additional authority" for the Homeland Security secretary to quickly return the minors back home. Immigration advocates understood this to mean that the children, who currently have the right to a hearing before an immigration judge, would lose that right and instead would have to make it through an initial screening with a Border Patrol agent.

Yeah, that one's ridiculous. Who has email stored on a client computer? This is clearly a lie. The fact that no one in the senate thought to ask that makes me worry though. This is probably one of the worst attempts to lie in the national spot light I've seen. What are they archiving to PST exclusively located on a user's computer after 4 months? Sarbanes Oxley makes you keep monthly backups for a year and yearly backups for 7 years. I guess they're too good for that?

I saw three mexican looking guys yesterday. They looked suspicious.

Did you call ICE?

I wanted to. Last month I wrote their number down on the back of my hand ,just in case I saw some suspicious mexicans.

But...I took my monthly shower on Sunday and the phone number was not legible.

It's absurd right, and the fact that it is not being explained just how ridiculous it is to the American people makes me wonder ?

Just for the record i think the IRS is exempt from SO

I haven't followed it closely but I don't understand why the right is not all over this.

Makes sense that they would be exempt. Jerks.

That's the part that makes me think they are all in the same bed, and all the political moaning and groaning is theater for the masses. Are Obama and GWB really that different

Not to put TOO fine a point on it, but I suspect they had different parents. I mean, their skin tones ARE a tad... different???

Well the republicans were so out of touch with the younger generation, they invited Stephen Colbert to one of their events to speak. Colbert's entire act is an over the top right winger done entirely in satire. It was painful to watch. He just made fun if them the entire time. I remember wondering why someone's Intern didn't tell one of the senators it was a joke.

Back to the topic...

Here are the links to two of the Rio Grande Valley's TV stations:

They each have playable stories on the subject, at this writing.
Can also search for Brownsville or Laredo stations, and perhaps Eagle Pass. Del Rio is a bit too far northwest of the action and has historically had fewer problems than other ports.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
