New York (CNN) -- New York police have detained a 20-year-old woman they say left a baby in a stroller on a subway platform Monday.

A witness told police she saw a woman, described as between 20 and 30 years old, push a stroller from a subway car onto the platform when the doors opened. The woman didn't get off the train, instead letting the doors slide closed and continuing on, according to the witness.

After waiting 20 minutes with the baby on the platform to see if the caretaker or mother would return for the child, the witness alerted police.

When I lived in Boston there was a commercial with teenagers rapping "If you have a baby and don't know what to do, Baby Safe Haven can help you through!"

Should we expand Baby Safe Haven laws to include older children?

Most married men could use a safe haven too. Somewhere we can get away from all the unpleasantness, get a nice cup of coffee and maybe a handjob, watch a game on the TV then go home to resume work on the honey do list.

No, Baby Safe Haven is to give up your baby permanently, not temporarily. That's called a babysitter.

Yeah, I have no idea what Baby Haven is. Don't particularly care about the details. I like to make my own details.

 I know this.

If you are wondering, it is a law where you can drop a newborn off at certain areas and permanently sever ties with it, give it up, no repercussions.

It's to prevent people (scared teenagers) from killing their newborns or dumping them in the trash. Instead, they can turn them over to someone and never see them again.

So, should a person be able to give up their older baby? This woman seems like she wanted it to disappear.

Postpartum depression can last for years, so I'd think so.

Do you think it would prevent people from killing their kids? Like that poor boy who died in a hot car while his dad drove around with chickie babes, or that stupid wench who was found not guilty for killing her daughter.

I think it might... but maybe these parents are just too crazy.
