Hi all,

I need a bit of clarification on the administrative review process. My Egyptian fiancee had his interview at the Cairo embassy on Sept. 12. On Nov. 1 he was asked to provide a new set of fingeprints and on Nov. 12th, his case was sent to Washington. I am at the point where I want to involve my senator. We filled the original application on Dec. 5, 2005 and have been waiting 13 months now. My question is, which government agency or body do I have my senator write to? Is it the embassy which needs to be prodded at this point or Homeland Security or some other body? Thanks in advance for any information you can give me.

Sorry to hear of your delay.

I think most, if not all, senators have someone on their staff who is in charge of assisting with immigration issues for their constituents. They will know who to contact. I would just write to the senator and explain your situation and specify what you want them to do for you.

Good luck and please let us know how it turns out.

On Nov. 1 he was asked to provide a new set of fingeprints and on Nov. 12th, his case was sent to Washington.
If your fiance was asked to submit a full set of prints at this time he had a name hit in one of the many data bases. The prints were then sent to the USA to be cleared and then the results should go back to the embassy.
My question is, which government agency or body do I have my senator write to?

Have you contacted the Department of State for a status update?  One thing is if he is in security checks no one can expedite the processing especially since 9/11.  I also suggest that you look at the time line of others that got AR/AP out of Egypt and see that these cases ran for 6 months or longer from the time of the interview until the visa was ajudicated.

Here are just a few links concerning name checks and good luck.

Note:

If you contact a senator all they can do is inquire on your behalf as to the status of your case they cannot expedite it.   You will have to give them authority to inquire for you with a release form that can be found via thier website usually.  http://www.house.gov/writerep/  this is a locator for your congressman.
