Hi All,

I need help on this one.

As some of you will see I have "K-1" Visa under my name. I wish I could edit that, as we have not even applied for it yet. Things are quite strained between us with the whole long distance thing and the K1 has firmly been put on hold for the time being.

I am going over for 90 days to consider our options and when/if we will move forward with the K-1. I guess I'm going over to save our relationship. In some ways it is perfect timing, I am about to be laid off from my job (thanks recession), I will be getting enough money that I can easily bring $8.5K to the US for the 90 days. I don't think proving that I can support my self will be an issue.

Will the fact that I will not be working at my time of entry be an issue?

I have been to the US before while working and when they asked if I was working I just said yes and they took it no further. Same of a buddy of mine who went for 7 weeks and he was not working at his time if entry, he just said he was and they asked no more questions.

My Dad is a part owner of a company here, and I guess I could say I am working for him. If they ask how did I get 90 days off work I could say I work for my family, and it has come into there quite time of year. (which is true as my Dad's business goes quite after the Summer).

I don't want to lie, and my reasons for going are legit. I plan to tourist it up while I'm there! That said, I don't wanna get stopped on some minor technacallty cause some border patrol guy is having a bad day.

Does US customs have access to my Irish social security number?

What is the best course of action here guys?

The don't.

Tell the truth.

The more you try to dress up your situation, the more obvious it will be to people trained to spot these kind of lies.

You know that old saying - it wasn't bad until the conspiracy to cover it up.

Don't make yourself suspicious.
