There a lot of 2012 filers with XXX2014.....because their file reached NVC in 2014 for some reason, for example if someone made a choice of adjustment of status on I-130 then left US before adjusting status because of some reason, I-130 needed to be transfered to NVC by filing another form called I-824. It delays the whole process and it's possible for that person to have a 2014 case number even though they filed in 2012. Happened to one of my friends.

Yes. Agreed. The year shown with case number is not a year of filing petition,its a yer of Case number generation. So it can be much behind too as earlier approval of petition was taking much time in USCIS. So their petitions are filed way before and not in 2013.

Just got the I/L...i am sooooo happy right now.. My PD is 24 july 2012.... The interview is on sept 9... What documents would my wife need when she go for the Interview?? Is I-864 really necessary?? I have a joint sponsor too. And i am unable to find his copy of i-864...

First and foremost , Congrats man..wow 2011 PD

To answer your question , you only need I-864 if you got checklist for it and it instructed you to take it with you to interview. You dun really need it if you didn't get the checklist for it.
