Problem changing Name on SSC

Well it is TRUE for my SS Office. I asked about it when we first got the SS card and that was their answer. You CANNOT force them to do it.

You can e-mail the main SSA office (under "contact us") and explain your situation and hope they send an e-mail in which you take with you to train the clueless employee at your local office. Some are well trained and other are not. Unfortunately it is up to us to train them if we want them to follow their own rules. Sometimes it is best to just give in.

Thanks Dave. You are correct in saying that you "hope they will respond". I am a retired federal civil servant and I know how these people work. It is not a problem for us to wait until the EAD shows up. Actually, my husband has his biometrics appointment this Friday. So, hopefully we shall see the EAD card soon. By the way, when we went to get his military dependent ID Card, we were told the same thing. They would not issue it in his married name until DHS had changed their records. Sometimes it is just best to play along.
