Hey guys,

Sam and I have been thinking if the I-134 form we will bring for interview later on is enough to prove that I will not be a "public change" and grand us a visa? Do I need to bring any extra statements like bank statement etc. to prove that I got finanical support? Our co-spousor will be Sam's daddy, he would definitely help us, we are so lucky to have him support us all the way!

If you read the directions to the I-134, you'll see that the form itself requires you include evidence to support your claim. I'd recommend downloading the form and looking it over. You'll have to provide evidenciary support for both of the I-134s for you as well as your co-sponsor.

The I-134 standing alone will not be enough. They will want to see supporting documents proving the information you include.

YMMV

SamAndJulie,

And if you read the OF-167 or DS-2000, whichever comes in your visa application packet (same document, old and new designations), you will find out that I-134 is only one of a number of things that the consulate might expect you to submit.

What you submit will depend on the financial resource being documented. For example, you can use bank statements to document funds in bank accounts. (But if the amount of money in the accounts is insignificant, there's no point to mentioning and documenting the accounts.)

Yodrak, side note, something I've always wondered about. Could bank statements be considered another proof of your income (along side an employer letter) if it shows direct deposits made from the payroll of your employer? Or is that an invalid/unrecognized way of using bank statements?

Thanks!

Cass,

Pay statements would be better. All of the direct deposit plans that I have experience with make a pay statement available for each pay date, they just don't have a check with them. (Or they have a check image with some kind of overlay indicating that it is not a real check.)

Okay, I will have pay stubs. Although the University I work for has gone completely digital, so our pay stubs are nothing more than a print out from an internet browser. I was hoping to show my bank statements to help support the unofficial looking pay stubs.

Thanks!

Cass,

Same here about the pay statements - one has to print them from the payroll company's web site. W-2s are done this way also.

Nothing "unofficial" looking about them. They look no different than the paper pay statements that the company used to distribute, and those paper pay statements were probably created the same way that I now print mine from the web site - a digital file printed on a laser printer.
