Is this normal?

I have been all pumped up and getting prepared for my AOS interview this coming Wednesday, I just checked my mail box to find a letter from the local field office saying that my date has changed but the time and place have remained the same. The new date is for the 17 th which is a week from Thursday

I've heard of people rescheduling there interviews , but have never heard of USCIS changing the dates after issuing a interview notice , unless requested.

Is this normal ? Has anyone heard or seen this happen before ? Should I be concerned ?

It's happened before.

Worryingly, USCIS have sometimes issued a denial for people failing to show up to the first interview even after that interview was rescheduled. I know sometimes people will go to the cancelled interview on the off chance it still proceeds. Whether this is something you want to do is up to you. Even if it happened it would be relatively easy to fix, just make sure to keep that reschedule letter and ideally make a copy for your records.

I think that unless my online interview date updates maybe I should go anyway to keep down confusion?

There might be a staff shortage for that day. Perhaps some people are off sick or some other issue meaning they would have less people around that day.

It's only about a 45 minute drive, it's San Bernardino CA

Keep the letter in case you'll have to show later that it was rescheduled. And now, don't worry, just go for the new interview appointment. All will be fine. The online system is notoriously wrong, so don't rely on that...

Good point and Thanks, I was just reading about the situation in Murrieta CA where they are bussing in and processing 140 undocumented women and children every 3 days at the CBP, Murrieta is under San Bernardino USCIS office so maybe they had to pull In adjudicators to help with the crisis

Well if you are still worried about the interview date change & you decide to go there for the original appointment date at least it's not a long journey to make.

Very true, I'm thinking it wouldn't hurt to turn up for the original date and time, worst that can happen is they send me home until the following week . I will call tomorrow and try and speak to a tier 2, if they say the change is in the main system I won't worry. But if it still shows the original and only the field office with the new then I will go.....I was soooo close to the day...lol

All being well then after you speak to a tier 2 then you will have a more clear view of what to do. If you do have to wait till the 17th it's not that long away & it will soon be here. I wish you both luck, not that you will need it.
