Clarification on NVC Process

Hi everyone,

I'm still waiting to have my I-130 approved, but I'd like to go ahead and get everything together as soon as possible so as to make the rest of the process go along smoothly.

I've been following the NVC process guide on http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process but I still have some questions.

Are most of these forms filled out and submitted online? Or, alot of it has to be mailed? If it's mailed, does the beneficiary or sponsor mail them to the Embassy or some processing center in the US? And, is it only during the interview when originals need to be produced for the consular officer (like marriage certificate, birth certificates, etc.)?

Thanks

The DS-261 and the DS-260 are filled out online. The IV (immigrant visa) documents (birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc...) need to be mailed to the NVC who send it to the consulate. The I-864 (or I-864EZ) and the documents for that also needs to be mailed to the NVC.

So I need my husband's birth certificate and police records, etc. to send to NVC? Meaning, he has to send it from Egypt to me in the US? Or, he sends it directly to NVC?

It's much more efficient to send all documents to you and you forward on. Or he can from Egypt and send all his documents but they all should be together. There's more than just the birth certificate and Po;ice report he needs to send. Look at that list again.

The biggest thing that people need to focus on is the I-864 and making sure last 3 years taxes are filed and you have transcripts in hand. That you can have at the ready and waiting for months ahead.

Either works. As long as all the documentation arrives at the NVC.
