Trusted Traveler?

Would a discussion area specifically for Trusted Traveler programs be possible?

Yes, posts could certainly be made under the Travel related. It would be helpful, however, for an area specifically for Trusted Travler programs (NEXUS, SENTRI, preTSA etc) as the applicants are US citizens soley as a simple benefit to the applicant. The number of options for this are growing as are the number of those in the program and applying for it.

How many members here use these programs? I need to guess how busy that forum will be -- if not too busy perhaps we can pin a thread.

I don't think it would be extraordinarily busy. A Canadian citizen can get the trusted traveller (NEXUS) and I think Mexican citizens can get another for land based crossings (SENTRI).

Most of the information needed is pretty easily obtained on the CBP websites http://www.cbp.gov/global-entry/about

Some do but the current measure would be difficult given the discussion area doesn't currently exist. It would certainly attract new users seeking information.

There is also Global Entry, FAST and preTSA.

We have numerous government web pages for visas yet VJ also has guides and discussion areas for those as well.

The same would be helpful for Trust Traveler.

Flyertalk forums make a better sense for trusted traveler forums. In fact, they already have such forum:

Good point.

That discussion seems to focus more on the use of the program.

Here, we could discuss the application process and issues with completing it.

Not quite sure what process and issues you're talking about - it's very easy - if you can complete USCIS application you can enroll into GE/TSA pre-check.

1. go on the website of cbp/tsa and read all about the program(s) and determine if you qualify; 2. make an account and complete the application, upload what they need and pay $$$ they ask for; 3. wait for decision letter (normally 2 days later); 4. if approved, schedule interview at one of the airports that have processing centers; 5. go to the interview with your passport, DL and clean and not injured fingers so they can take your fingerprints and take your picture; 6. go home and wait for GE card to come in the mail or start using GE kiosks with your enrolled passport asap.
