Hello everyone,

My fiance has his interview for visa to come here to the United States on January 31st. I had not plan on going to Peru, for the interview, can anyone tell me if it required or should I go if means that the chance of his acceptance his greater for approval. I have a lawyer and she said, that I would need permission to go in the interview with him. He has all the necessary documents of proof of our relationship, such as phone logs, emails, pictures and of course all the documents requested him to get.

Also, I was reading that if approved, he will get fingerprinted there. Is there any fees at the time of the interview and if so, how much.

Also, if improved do they received the visa that day, or does it get mail to them.

Thank you for any information

Many people have commented that the Lima embassy is much more likely to approve a K-1 if the USC also attends the interview. From the accounts that I have read, you will be able to actively participate in the interview and you do not need advance permission to attend. Personally, I am planning on attending the interview with Betty (if I ever get the NOA-2).

I THINK, but am not completely sure, that there is an $85.00 finger print fee.

Best of luck on your interview and, please, write a review of your experience.

You might try a search on Peru. I remember seeing posts where the USC was required to be in attendance. If worst comes to worst, try calling the embassy.

Hi! My fiance has his interview on Jan 31st too!! How exciting. From all the research I have done and hearing many people's experiances it is "highly recommended" that the USC is there for the interview. This doesn't guarantee approval - but definately helps! I don't want to take a chance, so I am flying down next Saturday. You don't need special permission to in the interview with him - since it is a fiance visa he is applying for you have every right to be there and if you go they will question you as well.

If he is approved, he will get fingerprinted, but this is free of charge unless they have to do a special fingerprinting to prove his identity (if something looks fishy or there is something suspicious in the system) and this costs $85. I am bringing the $85 just in case.

As far as I know, they don't receive the visa the same day, but you can pick it up from DHL (courrier service) in Lima 24-48 hours from your interview. The Lima Embassy website says to allow 3 days to receive the visa.

I would love to chat with you some more since we have our interviews on the same day!
