Hi there,

I live in Palestine, have been an exchange student in the US for high school when I was 15 years old. After that, I went home and graduated from high school. After I finished, I applied for a university to get a full scholarship including tuition, room & board for a 4 years bachelor. that does not include summer.

In the first summer, I worked on campus with my university for a month, then I found a better paying job next to campus, that I applied for in the field of my study. I started working and went to my adviser after to get the authorization, but he wasn't there at his office for two weeks, one I find him and ask him about the authorization and telling him that I have been working for two weeks while looking for him, he calls homeland security and immigration office and my visa gets terminated and revoked, me being told to leave the US immediately so I do so and go back t my home country to wait for a year and then get my scholarship again to continue, I apply for a new visa and waiting for my interview in two weeks, what will happen ? will they determine my visa? or what will they ask me,

letting you know that me working off campus was a stupid idea but it was me misunderstanding the rules?

please help me, what will they ask me,? and what should I say ?

I think you and anyone can understand what you did wasn't a good idea. However when you were told to leave you did so and that was a very good idea.

All you have to do is go to the interview and tell the truth including that you realize that you made a mistake simply because you didn't understand clearly and thought you could make a little more money. They are going to question you some about this and probably tell you not to do that again. Just tell the truth about everything and you should be ok. You already paid a penalty by having to give up your full scholarship ect and wait for a full year. Hopefully that will be enough to allow them to grant you another visa.

You're probably not getting the visa.

I honestly don't know anybody who would do that to a student. This is a shame. You are allowed to so CPT , only limited to jobs relating to your field of study. You could try to get a visa , explain to the visa officer that it was a misunderstanding , or a stupid mistake. Convince him or her you have absolute no intention abusing the visa.

The student didn't follow the rules so of curse they did that. They have a responsibility to perform.

Not every school nor every program has CPT -- so you cannot say the OP was "allowed" to do CPT. Even if her school and program permitted it, it wakes specific permission and approval from both the school and USCIS.

He/She got caught not abiding by the terms of the visa and paid the consequence. I think the visa officer will find it hard to believe that it was the OP "misunderstanding the rules" -- since he/she obviously knew that authorization was needed to work at the "better" job -- since he/she went to an adviser to get that authorization....too bad it was after the fact of accepting and working in the job.

If I understand the OP's post, it has only been a year -- not sure that would be enough time to demonstrate to the visa officer that there is no intention of violating the terms of the visa.

Get a social security number then go to work for money, nope. Chance: slim to none.

Let us know how it goes.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
