I know this is a frequently asked question, but I haven't seen it asked the other way around before. I live in the states and my SO lives in the UK. I will be filing the I-129F for him to come to me. I want to know that if I file it before the school year starts in August (I'm in college currently), will I have trouble at UK border control when I go over Christmas break, and should I be afraid to tell the officer that I have filed the I-129F when they ask what our plans are?

Thank you!

Why would they care? UKBA are going to have no idea what an I-129F is.

The issue normally would be if he comes to visit you in the USA while the K1 application is pending. You going to visit him in in the UK is fine as long as you are going as a tourist and staying 6 months or less. I assume you have an American passport.

If they ask why are you coming, just say visiting my boyfriend, make sure you have a return ticket to US and be on your merry way. Don't tell them about the K1 process unless they ask. They shouldn't even care that deeply because their main concern is for YOU not to overstay in UK. The fact that you want to bring him to the US is none of their business.

Don't volunteer extra information that they don't ask about. I highly doubt they will ask what your future plans are. I have lived in the UK and travelled there numerous times. They only grill you when you come under a student or work visa. Tourists are fine.

Thank you @Dohan! I thought so but I wanted to confirm this. And actually, when I flew back home and went to check my bags in Heathrow, there was an employee that asked us if we were dating and what our future plans are. No idea why, but it was really strange... thanks though!

employee?

Do you mean a UKBA officer or a Heathrow baggage handler?

The baggage handler was being sociable and curious. The UKBA officer was doing his job in a sociable manner.

As others have said, don't offer any information other than asked for no matter how it appears to be asked BUT be honest.

To answer the original question. You probably will not have a problem visiting.
