contacting new york senators

Hi guys,

Just wanted to know when contacting the senators what exactly do we need to say to them to get them to help with our case. Any advice is greatly appreciated especially if you know who is better to contact gillibrand or schumer

You are presumably going to enquire based on you being beyond TSC's listed I-129F processing times.

It would probably be better to contact Chuck Schumer, as he is one of the most pro-immigrant senators currently in Congress and I believe co-sponsored the immigration reform Bill which passed the Senate (but not the House) last year.

I called Gillibrand's office and they directed me to a pdf form on their website that I faxed in. I've heard good things about schumer.

I actually contacted my local representative, as their office is smaller and they were a lot more responsive. Anyone in the Rochester area, contact Louise Slaughter - such helpful and polite staff.

Schumer's office never answered me but Gillibrand worked on my case right away. I would recommend her. A few people in the January filers topic have been saying the same. As long as your contacting them after the 5 months.

Yeah I was january 31st so offically over the 5 month period. Im going to call both schumer and gillibrand see who is more responsive and ill let everyone know

From my experience, the way to place an official inquiry for both are:

For Gillibrand - You write your letter over the webform, and then they will email you the privacy release form which you can fax over. I called to make sure they got it. And after a few days I also got an email saying they got my information.

For Schumer - The only way is through postal mail. So you write your letter and include a privacy release form.

My congressperson was the one who successfully got my case worked on and approved. Gillibrands office sent me a letter afterwards that I was approved too.

Maybe not... Think about it. Schumer probably receive thousands of these letters everyday. So it will take them longer to get back to you depening on the type and urgency of the case.

I used my congress lady. I spoke with her via the telephone. She emailed the privacy form and i emailed it back to her. She was able to help me resurrect the case after 6 months.

She has been very very helpful.

So my advise to people is to use the smaller channel.

I just reached out to her office (just finished emailing the form back)...not sure what they can actually do but thought it was worth a try...
