I'm married to a LPR who is abt filing for her naturalization and also petitioning for me. But my problem is I applied for a tourist Visa 2010 and actually lied abt my marital status as married thinking it'll be enough to proof financial ties but I was still refused the visa. Pls how do I go abt this in my spouse visa petition. Does that mean I can't join my wife in the states? Pls candid advise will be appreciated. Tanx

Expect a denial or expect to be put in AP. You will be filing a petition and it will get to the embassy more than likely and you are in the system as married yet have no divorce decree. How do you divorce someone you weren't married to.

So you have lied to immigration to try and get a immigration benefit (A VISA). That is misrepresentation. It can mean a 5 year or 10 year or lifetime ban, Nothing easy here.

Your wife should seek a immigration attorney to see if there is something you can do upfront like writing a letter upfront to address it. Basically confessing your sins to show you aren't hiding it. Not that it will go away. I have seen this much to much and everyone one I know have been denied and spouse in Nigeria still hasn't come here and one is over 5 years ago denied.

Why does this keep coming up in Nigeria?? :ranting: .

Gosh! Does that mean I can't even get a waiver? My wife just left a couple of weeks ago and I'm missing her so bad already :(

Well you can't just get a waiver because you want one. You won't know if its even waiver-able until your interview and you are denied.

You realize even at best you are looking at a year of processing after filing your petition.

Misrepresentation can quite possibly leave the people with a lifetime ban to the USA.

So in 2010, did you say you were married when you were not, or did you say you were NOT married when you were?

It is what it is even if you ask this in different sites you're going to hear the same comment because it has already been stated as to what penalties abound for visa fraud. Multiple username created by you to ask the same question will not change the fact. Are you not the same person as Solawise?

That's rather a large assumption.

It's really better to report, so the mods can look into it, vs making accusations like that.

You posted under a different name a few days ago about a wife you didn't divorce. DO you think we are children you can try your lies on to see which one we believe the best. You are an example of why immigration from Nigeria is a nightmare and should be.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

What is it with this connection to another post? Are people always going about looking for other people's trouble on this site leaving the primary objective aside. If u have no response to give regarding the query why not move on and stop making stupid accussations. Cos pple's inquiry seem similar makes same person, really?! How shallow can u get!
