For I-485, does it mean they are doing interviews for those dates or they are processing (printing) the cards ?.

My i-485 was submitted in Sept 08 of 2006...i had my interview in Dec 06.....so looks like i will wait for the response in 4 months from now.

The i-485 on the list for the CSC is "employment based" not "family based", therefore looking there is not relevant to our cases.

Ok, so it means that we don't actually have a way to check or at least have an idea if we're in the processesing bracket? all we can hope for is to have the approval notice in our mailbox. At least looking at the processesing dates will not make me upset anymore knowing that the dates they process is way far from when we filed. Thanks!

I have sent emails to the USCIS webmaster highlighting the missing information (I-485 Adjustment of status being 'employment based' not 'family based' on the CSC page and the fact it didn't get updated between the 18th of December and the 17th of January, but we get told by the mis-information line that this is our information source and we have to use it).

Whether it has any impact remains to be seen.

Contact USCIS

Contact Us

Before contacting the USCIS, we may be able to help you if you have a question about immigration procedures, or need clarification, by calling our National Customer Service Center (NCSC) at 1-800-375-5283 (TTY 1-800-767-1833). This toll-free call center has additional information and, during their specified office hours, can connect you to live assistance in English and Spanish. The NCSC will be able to answer most questions - although they cannot provide information about the status of your case over the telephone.

Please note:

Border patrol and airport inspections are now done by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), part of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Immigration investigations, detentions, removals and SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) are now done by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), part of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

USCIS does not handle Passports or most visas. These matters are handled by the U.S. Department of State Passport Services, and Visa Services.

E-Mail comments to USCIS may be made at the following email address:

If you would like to provide feedback on the USCIS.gov website, please email us at uscis.webmaster@dhs.gov. Please note the following:

*

Information about specific cases should not be sent to this address, and

*

Although every e-mail message will be read within two business days, due to the number of messages, individual responses may not be sent.

I also found this information on the USCIS website yesterday but I can't find it there today (their 'search' function keeps stalling), so I found it elsewhere online. Anybody who feels that the immigration people dealing with their cases have been less than professional (and I have read many VJers accounts to say this is not an isolated issue) here are some contact details you might find useful.

Complaints Procedure - USCIS

USCIS Established Complaint Procedures

The USCIS has established complaint procedures whereby individuals can report incidents of misconduct, mistreatment, or allegations of abuse, fraud, waste, or mismanagement. These complaint procedures are particularly useful for clients who want to report abusive treatment during Special Registration or while crossing the border. Official complaints will help raise the USCIS' awareness of abuses/ill treatment that occur during the Special Registration and at the border and give mistreated foreign nationals a chance to voice their grievances.

Office of the inspector General

Complaints must be made in writing. The Office of the inspector General (OIG) does not make any statements as to the confidentiality of its complaint procedure. Furthermore, the OIG does not guarantee that each case will be investigated.

Address:

Office of the Inspector General

US Department of Justice

Investigations Division

950 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Room 4706

Washington, DC 20530

Fax: (202)-616-9898

e-mail: oig.hotline@usdoj.gov

phone: 1-800-869-4499*

*This hotline provides OIG address information in either English or Spanish. Complaints cannot be registered over the phone.

USCIS Office of Internal Audit

Complaints will only be accepted via the mail. The Office of Internal Audit (OIA) states that it will keep complaints confidential unless disclosure is unavoidable in a legal or administrative proceeding. It also states that there is no retaliation for submitting a complaint. That having been said, attorneys should still inform their clients who are in undocumented status or otherwise compromised status of the potential risks of registering complaints.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like I remember hearing from the misinformation line that if it's been more than 180 days from my transfer and no approval I can call, so that seems to be the only way of pursuing CSC after your transfer. I could be completely off though!
