Plane Ticket from Nigeria One Way or Round Trip?

When flying from Nigeria I noticed many people who did not have a round trip ticket were not allowed to board the plane to leave the country. When my spouse is approved for visa should we purchase a two way ticket to avoid this procedure since the green card has to be mailed to a USA address?

Usually a round trip ticket is cheaper than a one way. Usually if you start by calling the airline involved you can find their specific requirements. If you can find it on their web page print it ( or ask them to email you what is needed )

A one-way ticket is fine for people flying in on an immigrant visa or K nonimmigrant visa.

Usually people just buy the cheapest, as stated above.

That "denial" obviously will only apply to non immigrants on visitors visa. No airline would be stupid enough to ask anybody on an immigrant visa for a round trip ticket...most people still go with the round trip tickets because it's cheaper and not because of what the airlines have to say about it.

The roundtrip tickets are a better deal, but the one way tickets I find tend to be much cheaper by a few hundred dollars. Thanks all!

I have never seen where a round trip ticket is cheaper than a one way, however, I've never flown across the Atlantic either.

I have flown across the Atlantic to many, many destinations in West Africa and know that round trips are much, much cheaper!

There are one way trips that are about $900 cheaper and ive already seen many and am planning on flying on one of them.

Cheapest I saw for one way ticket was 864 usd the cheapest round trip was about 1200 usd. the round trips are a better value but the one way is cheaper especially if one does not plan to come back anytime soon. One really must be able to understand the market and its peak season etc.

Immigrant visa holders can fly any how they want to without any restriction. As a matter of fact, they don't need to fill the i-94 form even if the flight officials hand out the form to them.
