Interesting AoS Interview and Delay (USCIS lost file)

We had our AoS interview on 4/21, about three months after we filed I-485, which we thought was good timing and were thrilled!

As we were called in for the interview, the IO (who was very grumpy) started by telling us she felt at a disadvantage because she did not have our file. Apparently the interview was scheduled at the local office but the file never got there from the California Service Center. It may have gotten lost somewhere. As expected, the file had everything in it, every single document we'd submitted for the K1 visa, medical, I-485 application and docs, ...etc. That was a weird way to start the interview, but we remained positive and told the IO that we would help her get any info she wanted and we had copies of many docs with us.

IO asked many questions:

- How we met and the whole story --> that was fine

- Where we got married, details about wedding --> also fine

- Pictures from wedding --> that was fine as we had pictures with us.

- My current employment --> I had a letter from my employer so I gave the IO that

- Other details here and there --> it all sounded fine and dandy

Throughout the interview, the IO kept complaining about not having the file with her.

At the end of the interview, IO asked for:

- New medical for my wife. This was so unfair as losing the file is their own fault, but we still said yes and we would be happy to do it.

- New biometrics form (G-325a) for me as IO did not have the background info and more than a year had passed since I applied for I-129F. We said ok this should be straight forward.

On our way out, the IO made a strange and frustrating comment: She said "don't rush, take your time", referring to the additional docs she'd asked for. We just interpreted that as she wanted us to be thorough with the forms and the doctors to be thorough when filling out the medical form, ...etc.

We submitted everything the IO wanted by 5/1, mailed directly to the local office (as instructed).

On 6/5, we called USCIS and talked to tier-2 IO who opened a request for status. After a few days, we got a letter in the mail stating that case is pending with no further info. We wanted to at least know whether they received the documents we sent them.

We are about to schedule an InfoPass appointment.

Any suggestions on this?

You should contact one of your congressional representatives, and if you don't get anywhere with that try the DHS Ombudsman.

OK - I will try to contact the office of my congressional representative.

In the meantime, has anyone seen cases like this? I'd seen a thread about someone whose medical was lost and they were asked to redo that at the time of their interview, but what USCIS losing more than the medical?

Has anyone experienced excessive delay *after* the interview?

Update: we had an INFOPASS appointment with local USCIS. They did not have any additional info besides "your case is pending".

Has anyone had to do their medical again after their interview? If yes, how long did your case take after that?
