So today we had our interview. The IO stated that we didn't provide enough documents to prove we are a bonifide couple. We presented to them the same docs that we sent in. We provide about 40 photos from various events in our life. Vacation photos, photos from my wife's birthday and my step-son prom. The office ask me if we had any other documents to add to our case. I told her, this is all we have. Without batting an eye, she stated that she didn't need anything else as she can see our marriage is genuine. She granted my case and ask to see my passport. I showed it to her and she said the stamp was still good. She said I should receive the card in about 6 weeks. So after almost 2 years, this part of my journey is over. Next Stop filing for Citizenship.

I just had the worst experience ever calling USCIS. I explained to the lady that I tried to create an electronic inquiry about my case, but the system didn't allow me to because according to it I'm still under 'normal processing time.' The lady asked for my case number and confirmed that in fact my case is still under normal processing time. I asked her what normal processing time meant, since I filed my case over 6 months ago, to which she replied that they don't have a time frame that is considered normal with which to provide me. So I asked her how do they know when the case is considered outside of normal processing time then, if you don't have a timeframe? To which she replied "we compare the date of your case and the date it shows on the time table of the USCIS website.

Except that this table she's talking about doesn't actually provide a real timeframe such as 4 months, 5 months, 6 months, etc. Instead it provides a date: March 23, 2015. My thinking is, if the table provides, say, 6 months as being normal processing time, then you know that anything above 6 months is considered outside of normal processing time. But in this case it doesn't give me a quantity of months or a timeframe instead it gives me a date March 23, 2015. So how do you know when you're outside of normal processing time?? So she went on to suggest that only had I filed my application before March 23, 2015 would my case be considered outside of normal processing time, and only then the system would allow me to create an electronic inquiry.

I know there's so many people who have been waiting much longer than 6 months for this (which is preposterous) so you have my complete sympathy and respect. But we shouldn't be treated like this without any accurate information, simply hanging in limbo having our lives depend on this decision.

Has anyone been in this situation before, I mean, needing to request an e-inquiry and not being able to? What do you do? Do you simply wait and do nothing? Any experiences at all guys? Thank you.

Sorry, I don't remember the letter date.

But yesterday I got a text and email with the update.

"On February 12, 2016, we ordered your new card for Receipt Number ***********, and will mail it to the address you gave us. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address."

Now the naturalization!
