I had finally my info-pass appointment this morning in Miami. The lady gave me a stamp in my passport, and told me that is valid for 1 year. My file is in Miami since February 23rd 2015. She told me that they have a lot of people and that I will receive a letter for an interview. I have never received any letter to send extra evidence to them.

This is so funny to me since I am married for love, and I will have to go to the interview, and I know so many people that got married just for the papers and never had to do the interview. I guess I don´t have to worry :-)

What did you sent them the first time as far as paperwork? Did you ask at your infopass appointment if they had ever sent you an RFE or no? I think you should have been more persistent to get a date for the interview scheduled. This is almost 6 months since they have had your paperwork they should be able to schedule you for one right away if you ask me.

As far as to why they decided to interview you probably based on whatever you guys sent them the first time or simply for no specific reason who really knows why will be hard to tell

The only issue I could see is filling taxes married but separate because my husband owns them money and has an arrangement to pay monthly amount. The tax preparer told me that if we file together, his debt would pass to me, and she recommended to do it separate.

I told her that I have never received a letter requesting more evidence, and she just said that I should wait for the interview and that they have a lot of applicants in Miami. Nothing else. I guess, I´ll just wait to see what happens.

I bet it is the taxes that had you flagged. Sorry about that, hopefully you guys hear a date for the interview soon, since this has been a very long long process for you.

We made a service request (2nd one) and got the same response as the first one:

"Your petition is still pending consideration. The file was transferred to this Office recently from the either the California or Vermont Service Center. It appears that the material you sent was insufficient for a decision to be made. We regret that we are not able to give you a time frame for when we will complete the review of your petition.

An interview may be scheduled at the Mount Laurel, New Jersey Field Office at a later date. A notice will be sent under separate cover with the appointment information. Please ensure that you have maintained a collection of original documents with photocopies regarding the bona fides of your marriage."

I think we're done waiting. We were thinking about contacting congressman but I think we should go ahead and file for my citizenship this month.

What do you guys think? Apply for citizenship or contact congressman and wait more?

PS. I became CPR on July 2012 so I'm already eligible to file for citizenship.

I would file for citizenship right away. The only reason why I won't apply for a citizenship on the day that I am eligible will be because of school. They will have to figure out where is your petition and what is going on with it, so go ahead and file.
