Does request to reschedule put you at back of 'queue'?

Just got notice my interview is scheduled for August 11.

I'll be in Germany until August 31 on a work assignment, that can't be rescheduled.

Question: when I send I my request for a new interview date, do I get sent to the back of the queue? I will have been in testing and interview status for six months by August and it would be a big problem if I have to wait another six months for a new interview date, as we are moving overseas in January.

I don't have a choice either way but would love someone to set my mind at ease as I wait for the rescheduled date!

Are you going to be maintaining your status if you move overseas?

Thanks for your reply - yes, I plan to try to (I understand it's a privilege not a right to maintain status), we are only going for 4-5 months, then we'll be back for a month before heading back for another 5 months. We plan to keep our house in the US as our primary residence. I understand I'll have to do some research/due diligence for maintaining my status.

In the meantime, does anyone have any idea about whether rescheduling an interview puts you at the back of the queue?

I guess not :)

Well I think I can answer my own question now. I got my interview notice in the mail today. It didn't have any details on how to reschedule, other than in cases of emergency or illness. I rang the customer service line who took all my details and put in a request to the Chicago office to reschedule.

I asked the rep if I would go to the back of the queue I.e. Would I have to wait another 5 months. She said (and yes I took this with a grain of salt aside heard on VJ that these reps aren't necessarily always well informed) that they would give me the next available interview date from when I get back from my trip.

She also said this probably won't be entered on the online 'check my status' portal, so I'll need to call them back on occasion to check if my request has been accepted (she said it likely will be, they usually only reject requests to reschedule if the reason is something like a personal vacation). She said it will take 5-15 days for the new date to be scheduled.
