I'm still waiting in line to receive my interview date. looks like USCIS updated their website. saw this note when I tracked my status online:

Case Is In Line For An Interview

On August 7, 2014, we started the interview scheduling process for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization , Receipt Number ###########. We will send you an interview notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your interview notice by November 5, 2014, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

When they say if you do not receive your interview notice by Nov 5th, are they referring to the yellow paper which said the same- i'm waiting to be put in line or are they meaning my actual interview date? trying to figure out if I should filed for a "case outside of normal processing period" request or "notice not received request".

They mean the letter that with the time, date, and place of your interview.

It sounds like you should have received that by Nov. 5th.

thanks Jimmy! When I click on the erequest url, I have the following options:

Case outside normal processing time

Did not receive notice by mail

Did not receive card by mail

Did not receive document by mail

So should I file the "Case outside of normal processing time" assuming they haven't scheduled me yet, or file the "did not receive notice by mail" assuming they scheduled me, but the notice got lost in the mail? I'm thinking former, but wanted to get a second opinion.

I'm making this up as I go along, but I would click on "did not receive notice by mail".

You don't know whether they've actually scheduled your interview or not... all you know is that you were supposed to get something by 11/5 and you didn't.

I don't think it matters all that much though... whatever you click will hopefully get someone to look at your file.

Thanks! I had posted this Q earlier too...if they do schedule my interview, will the online case status reflect that? if I was scheduled, instead of saying you are inline, wouldn't it say you have been scheduled for an interview?

anyone who's been scheduled for an interview confirm this? Atleast this way I can tell if its a case of missing notice vs uscis still not having scheduled me.

Hi Everyone,

I had my interview on Friday 11/07 at the San Francisco field office. Thought I'd share my experience.

Got there at 1PM, interview was at 1:45PM. The room was very full with people on their phones even though there are signs everyone that we are not allowed on your phone. I sat in the chair outside my assigned area, and waited, and waited, and waited. I was almost the last one there when they called me in at 2:45PM, an hour after my scheduled interview time.

The immigration officer sat me down had me take the oath, and started to go through my paperwork. She asked if my husband, who is American by birth, was there with me. I answered No, and she said that okay she had to go through our paperwork and ensure that this was a bonafide marriage. I was a little shocked as I thought that they had already established that in the last 2 status changes when I got my green card, and when I got my permanent green card. However, I answered her questions, she asked about trips, and car loans together, banking, property ownership. I told her what we had in both our names and told her that we submitted these things earlier in the process. She asked me if I have documentation of us going out of the country for the upcoming Christmas. I told her I don't have anything printed showing our tickets, but I can show her them on my phone, she said no it has to be a hard copy. She seemed very abrupt and short with me. I know I had nothing to hide so just continued to answer her questions and hope for the best...because I know I didnt bring any new pictures or paperwork with me so what I had in the file was what I had. Then she went on to tell me that they got some new program and she wasn't sure how it exactly worked, and got me to sign a piece of paper with all my information on it saying it was correct, which she was suppose to do earlier, but she said she forgot.

She went over all the questions that I answered and asked about if we had to fight a war against Canada if I would fight for the US if they asked me to? I said yes, and we continued on.

Then we went onto the English/civics test. They asked me to read, "What state has the most people?" Then I had to write California has the most people.

Then she asked me the following 6 questions which I got right so I was able to stop after 6.

1. What is one right or freedom from the First Amendment?

2. Who is in charge of the executive branch?

3. What is one reason colonists came to America?

4. During the Cold War, what was the main concern of the United States?

5. Name one branch or part of the government.

6. If the President can no longer serve, who becomes President?

After I passed, she said we were done, and if I had any questions. I said that "Aren't I suppose to get a sheet when we are done stating my results?"

She said oh yeah, I almost forgot you are the last one of the day and I am trying to get out of here for the weekend. So then she took the sheet out check marked that I passed the civics and English test, and the "Congratulations your application is recommended for approval," and told me I should get something in the mail in 30-60 days, and walked me out of the office.

So all in all, thank goodness for this forum as it helped me to know the process, and that I am suppose to get that piece of paper at the end, or else I would have walked out not knowing anything till I received something in the mail. So if you are going without your US citizen and your application is based on marriage I would recommend bringing some recent photographs, and if you took any trips in the last couple years to bring those, and leases, car loans, etc.

Although I did pass and get recommended without having these, it would have made things less stressful for sure.

But, at least I passed and will hopefully be having my oath ceremony come the new year and be done dealing with USCIS!! Good Luck to everyone in their upcoming interviews...Happy Monday!

Congratulations Greeneyez. I'm quite sure you will get scheduled for Oath for Dec 10th (if not Dec 2nd).

P.S. I've already been placed in queue (had my interview on 23rd) and I'm currently waiting for mine, too. I was hoping to get naturalized on the 19th but it seems like it'll be on the 2nd or 10th next month!
