It raises a question: if it's a marriage based timeline that we're filing under, does the spouse have to attend? Is it mandatory? Just wondering, because it's difficult for my husband to take time away from work. I was going to attend by myself, unless he needs to be there?

It's a very good point. I was told that they WILL scrutinize you more if your spouse is not there, especially at the oath. Our officer said that if your spouse is not present for the oath they will pull you out of line and you have to wait until everyone else is finished and then they further interview you to make sure that all is good. I think if your husband takes the invite letter to his boss he can work something out. I mean, what kind of boss doesn't want his employee's wife to not become an American? Best of luck!

Kash, would you kindly add me to the list you've got going on? N400 sent on 7/21/14, received at Dallas/Lewisville on 7/23/14, Biometrics appt on 8/18/14 and went in for biometrics on 8/18/14. Local field office is Houston, TX. Currently waiting for the next steps in the process.

Hello Guys!

So finally today, I received an email and text notification stating "On October 27, 2014, your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION was scheduled for interview."

Here I noticed one thing that they sent me this notification on 10th day after completing my 5 years.

Hi All,

Had my interview today. Showed up at 10:20 and checked in. Interview time for 10:30. Was asked to go up to second floor and wait. Had to wait for over an hour while other people who came in behind me were called in. The place was like the DMV. In between one officer came out and asked for my notice as he had to look at my file.

Eventually about 11:30 am an officer came to get me and I followed him into his office. He made me swear under oath and the interview began. First off he asked to look at my GC and then gave me a sentence to read. This was followed by writing out a sentence and then the civics test. Questions:

1) who wrote declaration of independence

2) Which party does the president belong to?

3) Who is is the commander in chief?

4) Which are the two political parties in the US?

5) Name one state that borders Mexico?

6) Forget the last one

I got 6 out of 6. Then he went through the yes/no questions and then made me sign the n400 last page. He then said that my case was approved and I will get the oath letter in the mail. All in all in lasted for less than 15 min! i asked the officer if it were possible to have the oath earlier. He said that they were all booked.

Onto the last step! Although depending on when it is scheduled for , I might need to reschedule it since I need enough time to apply for a visa for December trip.

I had my interview todas as well. He asked me the same 5 questions + name 3 of the 13 colonies. I went to the interview by myself (my wife went to work) and it was just fine. My experience was pretty much the same except that they gave me a print out with the date and time for the oath ceremony (Nov 6 - 9:30 AM)

So, Today(10/30/14) I received my interview letter with the Interview date December 4, 2014. While letter issue date was 10/27/14 the same day when I received my email and text notification.

Please update it.
