Hi all!

I arrived in the states a month ago and I have still not received my social security number despite selecting on the DS260 that I wanted one sent to my address after arrival. I have been advised to visit my local SSA office to apply which I'm going to do next week.

I was under the impression that I could not get health insurance without the SNN but I have discovered today that it is possible. I plan on getting a plan in the next few days once I discover which one is best for me.

Now my question is this; because I have not been covered for my first month here in the states does that mean I will have to pay a penalty next year on my tax return? Is their any grace period for brand new immigrants to get covered?

I am slightly freaking out... there's no way my green card could be revoked because of this is there?

Thanks guys
