Hi everyone! I am in the process of sending my fiancé in Ukraine the docs required for her interview on the 24th! I will be sending:

- I-134

- 2012&2013 tax returns

- employer letter

- 2 pay stubs

- bank letters and statements

- correspondence thru email

- boarding pass/train ticket from my last visit

She already has pictures to take with her and a copy of the original petition file.

My question: Can I scan all these documents and email them to her to print locally, or do I have to send her the originals?

Thanks in advance for all replies!!!

She will be doing the interview in Kyiv...I have been trying to find info on what is ok to send for Kyiv but have come up with nothing. Would be great if someone could let me know if they accept copies in Kyiv as FedEx is expensive (I know, I know it's part of the process, but why spend $200 if I come to find out the embassy accepts copies!)

I send it to Azerbaijan and it is Azerbaijan system that i don't trust. from our end it is good. But usually around major holidays is the problem such as New year because a lot of packages get sent.

I would give it a try. sounds like there is still plenty of time. Make sure you get a tracking number and keep an eye on it. if it is delaying and time is short short, then you can start considering over night or whatever IF of course you find that it is confirmed and Kiyev wouldn't accept photo coppies.

But i never had any major problem with USPS. never lost or stolen or anything. In fact I am short on time and it better be delievered by 7/16.BUT I have faith in USPS lol.

Affidavit of support needs original signature. So does employer letter and any bank letter you got your bank to prepare for this.

Use DHL to send it. Costs a few bucks more but it is the gold standard in international shipping, both in reliability and speed.

I had my interview in Kyiv.

Sorry, but they need the originals. My fiance (now husband) used FedEx. Costed him 100 USD. I guess it took less than a week for the papers to arrive in Kyiv (where I lived) from Washington, DC.

I only have experience with the embassy in Manila, and they wanted (and kept!) originals from my fiancee, her Birth Certificate, CENOMAR (certificate of no marriage), NBI Police clearance, and they kept my original signed I-134. We tried to give copies of the BC but CO wouldn't accept a copy.

CO didn't ask for my employer letter, updated Letter of Intent to marry or care to look at any additional evidence of our relationship, photos, etc, aside from what was included in our original petition... maybe because I attended the interview with my fiancee (which I really suggest you consider).

I know someone else has already answered about needing originals but whenever this doubt arises, always better to use originals with immigration. Better be safe than sorry.

You would think so, but some embassies/consulates state in bold lettering on their websites to not send original supporting evidence since you're to bring the originals with you to the interview. Guess that's their way of avoiding being held responsible for lost documents, as rare as it is.

You are right, it depends on each embassy. Manila is considered high fraud and maybe this plays into it. It seems that Manila welcomes the petitioners and it actually helps with the interview process. I actually made the decision to attend at the very last minute and flew there from the US, arriving the morning of the interview. The CO commented that it was good that I was there with my fiancee :)
