Hi, I am new to this forum.

So I have question about student visa f-1. I have been on F-2 visa status for 5 years and graduated high school this June!

I m planning to go to college in USA,
so I applied for status change from F-2 to F-1 visa on last May INSIDE THE USA. I have received my I-
20 on late April, and my application for I-539 was received by USCIS on May 5th. I wish I could have done it earlier but there were still some colleges that didn't release the result yet.
I know that I could have done this in my home country for faster result, but we couldn't
afford to fly back because of our financial situation.
However, I was told that I won't be able to go to school if my visa doesn't get issued until
August 20th, which is when the school starts.
Is there any way to make the process faster, or get an advocate who can talk to USCIS
that my visa comes out as soon as possible? The website says average process time is 2.5 months but the school official told me that it has never been reliable..
I'm aware that whether my visa comes out or not is up to USCIS, but It's been my dream to get
collegiate education in America. I also got great scholarship,
which is full out state tuition, and I really don't want to lose this otherwise I won't be able
to go college in USA. I 'm extremely stressed because I was told that one international kid couldn't make it to the school because his visa didnt get issued in time
Any help would be appreciated!

You could try talking to the DSO at your school or calling USCIS to speak to a tier 2 representative.

If there was a faster way to be issued a visa, we'd all do it...then it wouldn't be so fast!

good luck

And, just to be clear -- you won't be getting a visa at all. Visas are only issued outside the U.S. by US Embassies and Consulates. You have applied for a Change of Status from F2 to F1. You will receive an I-797 form, if/when your change of status is approved. You show that to the school instead of a visa -- and, they are right, you can't got to school until you are in proper F1 status.
