Traveling abroad after getting approval of RoC but before getting new PR card

My wife has just received a NOA of RoC approval a few days ago.

The NOA says she will receive her new PR card within 60 days, but she is going to travel abroad for a month after 2 days.

I wonder if she needs to go to an office and get a stamp before she travel abroad? Or can she still use her exisiting 1 year extension lettter that she got when applying RoC.

It would be safest to obtain an I-551 stamp in her passport, just to cover all the bases.

You should be safe with your existing green card and the original NOA, not a copy. The NOA gives you a 1 year extension of your existing green card, which includes foreign travel and work privileges.

We tried this and were told by CBP that the existing one and the letter was sufficient.

Traveler should be fine with that unless they intend to return after the one year letter has expired. If that is not the case, then the letter can be used to return to the US even after the GC has arrived at their US address. On one such entry for us, the border officer asked where the GC was and we told them it was at home in the postbox. They were OK with that.
