Supporting evidence: should I send with IV package or bring to interview?

Hi!

Hope everyone is doing great and things are moving along for all of you. I have a quick question. I did not front load our I-130 petition as we have a pretty straight forward case and my husband is from Canada which is not considered a high fraud country. We will be sending our IV package within the next week or so and my question is, should we send additional supporting evidence with the IV package or should we just bring it to the interview.

The general consesus is to send the 'additional' relationship evidence witht the IV package (if you decide to send it). Bringing to the cosulate is little late as the CO usually has made up his/her mind after reviewing your case file before the interview. Canada not being a HFC, you probably don't need any such secondary evidence.

I brought some additional relationship evidence to the interview but wasn't asked for any of it. You may want to if the beneficiary is originally from a high-fraud country however.

Sounds like i am in the same boat as you...My understanding is that once the I-130 is approved, they more or less believe that you have a genuine relationship and now you need to prove that you are not a danger or burden to society. My plan is to bring additional/more current evidence to the interview in Montreal :)

Here's what we put in our I-130 packet from Canada and received no RFEs for additional docs. The interview in Montreal was cursory and went great:

  • Form I-130 Petition completed

  • Copy of USC Passport

  • Copy of Marriage Certificate

  • Copy of a prior Divorce Document

  • Photo of USC Petitioner

  • Photo of non-USC Respondant

  • G-325A USC Petitioner

  • G-325A non-USC Respondant

  • Current lease showing joint tenancy of a common residence (Evidence of a Bonafide Marriage)

  • G-1145 E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance

Done: I-130/CR-1, I-751/ROC

Done: I-327
