They were all political hacks 1,000 fighters equipped with little more than small-arms weaponry and soft-shelled pickup trucks. kicked the butts of an estimated 30,000 Iraqi Army soldiers who were trained by the U.S. military and given billions in sophisticated American military equipment.... What I have read is that all the commanders were political hacks

Sounds like Nam in which a bunch of puff west pointers, political appointees and REMF shot up the ranks, and instituted failed policies, while the real war fighters were put on chains.
