I found a great deal for my family through a website but not sure if picking the paper tickets up at the airport counter on the day of the flight itself is a good idea. Not sure if we have an option to receive them through mail. The website didn't mention it as an option.

my fiancee will also be flying from the Philippines. the agency I talked to today said there wasn't a paper ticket. she would be issued an e-ticket. I thought international flights usually were paper tickets. I'm calling PAL direct tomorrow to verify. probably book thru them since there fare was about as cheap as any I found online.

roymcn3rd,

As an example, my wife had an electronic ticket from Indonesia. Although the ticket was purchased directly through United Airlines stateside, they said no problem. I asked for a paper ticket, surmising that she would have problems at the ticket counter in Jakarta; to my suprise, she had no problems with the electronic ticket. We took a chance on electronic, saving $100, and it paid off.

This resulted in a dinner for two with drinks! Sold!!

Thanks! I wont worry about that. I"ll just go with whatever fare is the cheapest.

using PAL since it will be the easiest for her flying from Davao.

eric&gen,

You will get a confirmation number and an e-mail receipt for the purchase. When you arrive at the airport ticket counter, you offer the fact that a reservation exists in XYZ name and they will ask for an identity card or passport. Then the boarding pass is issued. Simple as that.

To be sure, have the printed e-mail handy, in the unlikely event that they cannot find the reservation. This is a very rare event though.

Happy travels to you!!

I've always had paper tickets when I flew to the Philippines. I'm going to ask them to email me the confirmation, booking number and itinerary so I can check it, then forward to my fiancee's email.
