Hello,

I'm (USC) trying to petition AOS for my parents who are living in US. one problem is they don't have their birth certificates. we tried to get it but it almost impossibel to get from their native country. the only documentation they have is their passport.

has anyone had similar case and still filled AOS without their birth certificates?

thank you in advance.

It's either possible or not. Almost impossible will most likely mean they'll need to get it regardless how hard it will be.

Check here http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country.html on info if it is obtainable and how in their native country.

so - dig in the china forum, read the first pinned topic there,

and gently ask your parents if there is ANYONE in China that has them listed (and is still alive) in the other people's hukuo books.

If such a person exists, that person can get the birth certificates made and then made into notarial translations, white books. It's my understanding that the AOS intake allows for photocopies of a birth certificate, so that's easy to scan all pages of the white book IN CHINA, email it to you, you print all pages, include with the pile o stuff.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

You could get somebody who personally knows them to make a oath and have it notarised . Or if they are from 內地, you could have the 內地公安 issue them a certificate based on the information on their 戶口 and have it notarised .
