Hi All,

I am a permanent resident and I want to fill the form I-131 to travel abroad but my question is what I need to put for the class of admission?

the question in the form is " Class of Admission"? should I put permanent resident or the three-letter code in my green card.

Your help is very appreciated.

Hi, so you have a Green Card, then why do you think you need to fill in an I-131 ??

May 3rd 2017 Received 10 year Green Card today

March 7th 2017 N-400 sent to Dallas TX 

March 10th N-400 Application received

March 15th Cheque for $725 cashed

March 20th received NOA1 dated March 15th

March 24th received biometrics appointment for 04/05/17

March 28th did early walk in for biometrics 

October 10th received Citizenship Interview letter

November 13th Citizenship Interview at 10 am Mount Laurel NJ passed my interview.

November 13th Oath ceremony 3pm now a citizen

November 14th applied for my passport 

November 25th Received my passport 

November 27th Received my naturalization certificate back

November 28th Updated my social security records

The OP may be applying for a re-entry permit, which also uses an I-131.

Class of admission is the three letter code on your green card, labelled as "Category".

OP, if you aren't going to be outside of the US over a year then you do not require a re-entry permit.

Yes, I have a Green Card but I need a visa for country where I am going to visit or you don't think I need to fill I-131?

You will need to get whatever visa you need for visiting the country you plan to travel to so that you can enter that country, but the I-131 is not needed and has no bearing on visas for other countries. The green card is all you need to re-enter the US if you are only out of the US for a month.

Your green card is for getting back into the US as it is your prof of residency, the I-131 has nothing to do with visas.

but what I need to get out of USA. I don't have passport and that why i thought I need a travel document (I-131)

If you cannot obtain one (i.e. you are stateless or obtained your green card through being an aslyee and cannot obtain a new or replacement foreign passport) then you can use the I-131 to obtain a travel document which will act in lieu of a passport.

Thanks Hypnos for the clarification. Yes it was through an aslyee and I that why I need to fill I-131.
