Required Documents for Muslim Divorce?

CEAC status updated to "Issued" today! The good news is that it looks like the embassy does not require an annotated marriage certificate if you have a Muslim divorce certificate. Although I'm not happy it was almost a month to the day in Administrative Processing, I'm glad it ultimately resolved without having to get my senator involved.

Good news indeed. Thanks for sharing your experience. Best of luck for the rest of your journey.

Hello,

I'm new here and I found this thread helpful in my case too. I underwent divorce here in the Philippines through Sharia courts. My husband (US citizen petitioner) was required by USCIS to submit my proof of legal termination from my first marriage. I went through the long process of having my annotated/terminated marriage contract ( with first husband) "red ribboned" by the DFA (Department of Foreign Affairs) just to comply.

Would this satisfy the case officer?

Appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks in advance!

Yes that should be sufficient. Just a bit of information you do not need to have any documents red ribboned for the visa procress. Save time and your money.

"How did you get your muslim divorce annotated by NSO? Is it required?"

yes, I believe so. they need to see the judgment/court decision that the previous marriage was terminated; there after, I was able to be married to my husband.

All Muslim divorces and general annulments must be annotated by NSO/PSA, as it is a requirement.

The best place to ask is in Mindanao, where there is a majority of Muslims and ask at the local court house or local register.
