Does anyone know how people get approved overnight or after regular business hours?

Not that I'm complaining, I mean, anytime they want to send approvals, be my guest!!

I just think it's strange. How might that work?

I've wondered the same thing. I'm betting its some kind of automated email generation system that sends the emails out at a certain time. Like a 'job' that runs overnight to generate the emails.

Our company does a lot of its financial processing overnight so that system response times aren't slower during business hours.

Just a guess.

Good call. Less work for them I guess. Meaning... more time to make approvals!?!?

Its not supposed to make sense, we're talking about the government :) But Tracy is probably right, its an automated thing. We got multiple emails with the same message when we were approved. Computer hiccoughs and whatnot.

You'd think computer systems would do stuff automatically and immediately, as soon as the employee makes the change and swipes the bar code. Oh well never mind. Important thing is it gets done! However I used to check several times during the day then only once at like 5 or 6 PM, then not again - thinking the working day was over. Then I got a touched notice on a Saturday and the RFE notice in my mailbox at 8:16 PM Tuesday. I'm worried about my obsessive-compulsive checking addiction now that I know it could come in at any time at all...

HaHa, I would always do that too. I'd stop checking at 5 or 6 thinking my chances for that day were done.

Now I have 24-hours a day to be a crazy, compulsive checker

Maybe we should start a club called "Compulsive Checkers Association" because I'm a full blown one too. Now that things are rolling again at CSC, I check my mail more than I usually do even though we're December filer. Can't help but  and  to the tune of ~~I believe in miracles, where you're from, you sexy thing~~

It probably IS done 'automatically and immediately'. What I'm saying is that the actual emailing itself is controlled by a 'job' that runs at night. The only delay is from when it is entered into the system as an approval and when the generated email is actually sent.

The printed NOA2s are probably generated from another batch job, but using the same scanned in data (as what generated the emails).

All of this is a guess on my part anyway, but sort of matches some things we do in my IT dept.

We are waiting for our NOA2 approval ... it has been 83 days and yesterday, the USCIS date of last activity on our petition changed to 01/17/2007 and it was accessed today (01/18/2007) as well ... does anyone know - assuming we are approved - when I should receive any email updates?

Thanks!

None of us 'know' for sure when anything is sent (email or snail mail), but I would assume it would be sent shortly after the approval.

That said, some people don't receive an email, or see their case status online change, but find out they are approved when they receive the 'snail mail' approval. Obviously there are still some snags in the system...!

When you click on your case number, does it still show the message that it is pending, or any other message? The email updates should come by the next day morning, I would think (or rather, HOPE!).
